Position Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Engineering Lead to lead the design, development, and delivery of cloud-native digital platforms on AWS. This role is responsible for driving technical innovation, modernizing digital capabilities, and delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that support the organization's Personal Lines, Accident & Health, and SME insurance businesses across the APAC region. Working closely with business stakeholders, architects, Product Owners, and engineering teams, you will provide technical leadership throughout the software development lifecycle while ensuring alignment with business objectives and engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architecture, design, development, and deployment of cloud-native applications and digital platforms using AWS technologies.

• Design, prototype, build, configure, and support enterprise services and customer-facing front-end applications for Allied World.

• Develop scalable web integration components, APIs, and reusable application services to enable seamless system connectivity.

• Design and implement application monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions to improve system reliability and performance.

• Produce and maintain technical architecture documents, solution designs, implementation specifications, and engineering documentation.

• Lead technical discovery sessions, requirements analysis, solution design discussions, and architecture reviews with business and technology stakeholders.

• Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and technical assessments to ensure compliance with engineering standards, security guidelines, and best practices.

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Solution Architects, DevOps teams, and business users to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

• Support, maintain, and continuously enhance Allied World's digital services and enterprise applications to ensure optimal performance and availability.

• Manage production support activities, including application releases, deployment coordination, incident management, root cause analysis, and issue resolution.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to optimize application performance, scalability, and development processes.

• Champion Agile delivery practices, DevOps principles, CI/CD automation, and cloud-native engineering methodologies.

• Mentor software engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and coaching to promote engineering excellence.

• Participate in peer code reviews and ensure adherence to secure coding practices, coding standards, and modern software development methodologies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• 8–15 years of progressive software engineering experience, including technical leadership in enterprise application development.

• Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud-native application architecture.

• Proven expertise in designing and developing scalable web applications, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.

• Experience building enterprise integration solutions and implementing application monitoring and observability frameworks.

• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, RESTful services, and modern development frameworks.

• Experience with Agile (Scrum), DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and software engineering best practices.

• Demonstrated experience leading architecture discussions, technical design sessions, and code reviews.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across business and technology teams.

• Experience supporting production environments, release management, incident response, and application lifecycle management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) and serverless technologies.

• Familiarity with cloud security, application performance optimization, and modern observability tools.

• Experience within the Insurance, Financial Services, or Digital Products domain is preferred.

• AWS Professional or Specialty certifications are an added advantage.
