We are representing our client, a supplier of critical power conversion technology on the following.
SENIOR SYSTEM FIRMWARE ENGINEER
Responsibilities
Work alongside cross-functional partners to help define products, write specifications, and analyze requirements.
Contribute to decisions on firmware architecture and development approach, with particular emphasis on wired and wireless connectivity.
Develop new products on schedule to satisfy specifications, while updating and refining existing designs to boost performance and reduce cost.
Build, code, integrate, test, and maintain software for power conversion systems, enhancing functionality over time.
Carry out integration and validation testing to confirm the different pieces of the overall solution work together correctly.
Help assess current and emerging technologies to find options that hold up reliably across varied deployment environments.
Design and deliver both embedded and PC-side software within a regulated product development process.
Take part in every stage of the project lifecycle — from initial design and coding through unit testing, documentation, and final release.
Mentor junior firmware engineers, offering guidance on their evaluations and design work.
Give the team technical direction and leadership.
Support manufacturing by resolving design-related questions that arise on the factory floor.
Provide ongoing support for both prototype and production power supply units.
Work with both on-site and distributed teams to help integrate software with hardware components.
Contribute to software quality activities, including SFMEA analysis and peer code reviews.
Support production and factory testing as part of broader system integration and validation efforts.
Requirements
Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
5–7 years of relevant professional experience.
Understanding of power supply topologies and analog/digital circuit design is a plus.
Working knowledge of software development, including Microsoft C# and GUI development.
Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and DSPs from vendors such as Microchip, TI, or ST.
Experience debugging software within embedded systems.
Exposure to digital control techniques or firmware for power electronics (e.g., PWM, ADC, digital filtering) is beneficial.
Background in embedded systems or DSP-based control algorithms.
Experience building communication stack drivers and networking protocols such as I2C, SPI, RS-485, PMBus, Modbus, or Ethernet.
Familiarity with IoT concepts, TCP/IP, WebSocket, the LwIP stack, or FreeRTOS is an advantage.
Proficiency using lab equipment like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies.
Ability to interpret hardware schematics and datasheets.
Experience with version control tools (e.g., SVN) and structured release processes.
Knowledge of coding standards such as MISRA or IEC 62304 is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and discipline, with a track record of writing clean, maintainable code.
