Job Overview

The Architectural Assistant is a mid-level role within the architecture team, taking ownership of design development and drawing packages under the direction of the Lead Architect. You will develop designs from concept through detailed design, coordinate closely with engineering disciplines, guide junior team members, and support document control on active projects as needed. This role suits someone with solid project experience who is ready to take on greater design responsibility on large-scale industrial and mission-critical projects.

Architectural Design & Delivery

  • Develop architectural designs from concept and schematic stages through design development and detailed design, in line with the project brief and design direction.
  • Take ownership of assigned drawing packages, producing plans, sections, elevations, details and specifications to a high standard of accuracy.
  • Translate client and operational requirements into functional layouts, including space planning, circulation, building envelope and fit-out.
  • Prepare design reports, presentations, area schedules and material/finishes proposals for internal and client reviews.
  • Review designs against relevant codes, standards and client requirements, and flag design risks early to the Lead Architect.
  • Respond to RFIs and review shop drawings and submittals from contractors and vendors.

Coordination & Team Support

  • Coordinate with MEP, civil, structural and process disciplines to resolve design interfaces and clashes.
  • Attend design coordination and client meetings, present design work and follow through on actions.
  • Guide and check the work of junior architectural staff and CAD technicians, giving clear feedback.
  • Support the Lead Architect with design programme tracking, deliverable lists and resource planning for the architectural discipline.
  • Carry out site visits during construction to monitor design intent, attend inspections and support defect resolution.

Document Control Support (Ad Hoc)

  • Ensure architectural drawing issues follow the correct revision, status and transmittal protocols in the project's document management system (e.g. Aconex, Viewpoint or SharePoint).
  • Maintain drawing registers and revision records, and support the Document Control team when needed.

General

  • Follow PM Group's quality, safety and project procedures.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties to support the architecture team and project delivery.

Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture or Architectural Technology; a Master of Architecture is an advantage.
  • 4–8 years of relevant experience in an architectural, engineering or project delivery firm, ideally on industrial, data centre, life sciences or other technically complex facilities.
  • Proven experience developing designs through to detailed design and construction documentation.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Good working knowledge of Singapore building codes and design standards, including the SCDF Fire Code and accessibility requirements. Experience with authority permitting and submissions (URA, BCA, SCDF, CORENET X) is an advantage.
  • Experience coordinating with multi-discipline engineering teams and responding to contractor RFIs and submittals.
  • Exposure to document control systems such as Aconex, Viewpoint or SharePoint.
  • Strong attention to detail, able to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines independently.
  • Clear communicator and confident presenting design work to internal teams and clients.
