Job Description & Requirements

• Senior Java Developer – Global Markets
• Location: Singapore Employment Type: 12-Month Contract - Extendable Industry: Financial Services / Banking Experience: 5–7 years

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join a Global Markets technology team on a 12-month contract. The role will spend approximately 80% of the time on hands-on programming and development activities, working on business-critical applications and shared technology platforms within a high-risk banking environment.

The successful candidate will have strong Core Java development experience, with exposure to middle-tier services, messaging technologies and application integration. Global Markets or Capital Markets knowledge would be advantageous but is not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Spend approximately 80% of the time on hands-on programming and development activities.
• Develop, enhance, modify, and maintain applications within the Global Markets environment.
• Collaborate with global teams to design and build new functionality on MuleSoft, TIBCO, and other shared platforms.
• Interact directly with end users, compliance teams, and senior stakeholders to gather and define business requirements.
• Manage technology solutions in a high-risk environment, leveraging banking domain and product knowledge.
• Provide Level 3 production support for business-critical applications.
• Work across multiple frameworks while maintaining strong software engineering standards.
• Apply design patterns and software engineering best practices.
• Adhere to Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI) practices.
• Work effectively within Scrum/Agile environments.
• Manage multiple requests concurrently in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Required Technical Skills

• 5+ years of software development experience, preferably within Financial Services or a related industry.
• Strong Java development experience with extensive Core Java expertise.
• Hands-on experience building middle-tier services.
• Strong understanding of messaging frameworks and technologies, including:IBM MQKafkaJMS
• Good knowledge of:RDBMSJDBCLinuxXMLIn-memory databases
• Experience with software design patterns and engineering best practices.
• Experience with SDLC automation tools such as:JenkinsGradleGitHubArtifactoryAnsible
• Strong commitment to clean code principles.
• Experience working with TDD and CI.
• Experience working in Scrum/Agile environments.

Good to Have

• Knowledge of Mule ESB, TIBCO, and API integration.
• Understanding of Capital Markets / Global Markets.
• Good understanding of SWIFT messaging.
• Experience with ReactJS, Elasticsearch, or AngularJS.
• Understanding of functional programming concepts.
• Experience working with banking products and business-critical applications.
