Job Purpose
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and managing day-to-day warehouse, transportation and related operational activities to ensure safe, efficient, compliant and customer-focused service delivery.
The role is accountable for achieving operational KPIs, optimising resources, managing costs, ensuring food safety and workplace safety compliance, and maintaining strong coordination across Warehouse, Transport, Customer Service, QA and other support functions. The role also supports the effective use of operational systems, including WMS and ASRS, to strengthen operational performance, inventory accuracy, service reliability and audit readiness.
The role is expected to provide proactive operational leadership, not merely day-to-day supervision. This includes daily, weekly and monthly planning, workload forecasting, productivity measurement, bottleneck anticipation, resource balancing, disciplined execution and continuous improvement to ensure service commitments are consistently achieved with minimal reactive intervention.
Role and Responsibilities
Plan, manage and oversee warehouse, transportation and related operational activities to achieve company objectives and customer service requirements.
Develop and execute daily, weekly and monthly operational plans by forecasting inbound and outbound activities, customer demand, manpower requirements, equipment utilisation and operational constraints.
Accountable for meeting agreed operational KPIs, including service levels, productivity, inventory accuracy, delivery performance, safety, quality and cost targets.
Monitor operational progress and proactively adjust manpower deployment, work priorities, equipment allocation and overtime requirements based on actual workload and productivity.
Coordinate closely with Warehouse, Transport, Customer Service, QA, Facilities, IT and other relevant teams to ensure smooth daily operations, customer implementation and issue resolution.
Review and monitor the performance of operations, suppliers, contractors and service providers to ensure service quality, efficiency and compliance.
Manage the storage, handling, movement and control of inventories within warehouse operations, including temperature-controlled and food-related products where applicable.
Plan manpower, equipment and other operational resources effectively, including assignment of workload, schedules and priorities.
Establish, monitor and improve productivity standards across key operational activities, including receiving, put-away, replenishment, picking, loading, transportation and inventory management.
Assess warehouse and transportation capacity, identify operational bottlenecks and implement workload balancing strategies to improve resource utilisation and operational efficiency.
Prepare, monitor and manage operational budgets and expenses to ensure cost discipline and effective resource utilisation.
Manage and support the effective operation of WMS, ASRS and other operational systems to ensure process discipline, system accuracy and operational continuity.
Analyse operational data, productivity trends and workload forecasts to support planning, improve performance and enable data-driven decision-making.
Ensure food safety, workplace health and safety, security, hygiene and operational compliance requirements are adhered to at all times.
Maintain strong customer management by ensuring service issues are addressed promptly, customer expectations are managed professionally and service standards are upheld.
Conduct or support internal audits of warehouse, delivery and operational facilities to ensure compliance with internal standards, customer requirements and audit expectations.
Ensure operational documentation, records, reports and procedures are accurate, updated and available for internal review, customer audits, external audits and regulatory inspections.
Ensure compliance with applicable government regulations, food safety requirements, workplace safety requirements, customer standards and internal policies.
Review operational performance reports and ensure monthly reports are prepared accurately and submitted on a timely basis.
Identify operational risks, service gaps, process inefficiencies and improvement opportunities, and implement corrective or improvement actions where required.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives through workflow analysis, process optimisation, standardisation, productivity improvement and elimination of operational waste.
Lead, guide and develop operations team members to ensure discipline, accountability, teamwork and consistent execution of operational standards.
Support business expansion, customer onboarding, system implementation and operational improvement initiatives as required.
Demonstrate initiative, resilience and resourcefulness in overcoming operational constraints, resolving issues promptly and maintaining operational continuity under changing business conditions.
Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate superior or management.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to respond quickly to operational challenges and drive practical solutions.

Ability to work cross-functionally with Warehouse, Transport, Customer Service, QA, Facilities, IT and management teams.

Qualifications and Experience
Degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Operations Management or a related discipline.
More than 10 years of relevant working experience in logistics, warehousing, transportation, food logistics or temperature-controlled operations.
Hands-on experience in warehouse operations, transport coordination, inventory management and customer service delivery.
Experience operating or managing WMS, ASRS or other warehouse management systems is preferred.
Familiarity with ISO 22000, food safety standards, cold chain requirements, workplace safety requirements and relevant regulatory requirements is advantageous.
Experience managing teams, suppliers, service providers, budgets and operational KPIs.
Demonstrated experience in operational planning, workforce planning, productivity improvement, capacity planning or continuous improvement initiatives will be advantageous.
Experience in customer onboarding, operational implementation, audit preparation or process improvement will be advantageous.
May be required to work in cold room or temperature-controlled environments.
Must be open to working weekends, nights or operational shifts where business needs require.
