Manufacturing Logistics Operations Director - #1133208

This is a key leadership role within Asia Logistics, Worldwide Manufacturing Operations (WMO) and will report to the Senior Director, Asia Logistics, Global Freight and Outbound Operations). This position requires extensive experience in Logistics Operations in a manufacturing environment, along with excellent strategic thinking, communication and collaboration skills.
Representing WMO Logistics, the Operations Director is responsible for identifying operational strategies and leading, optimizing logistics activities in Asia. This role ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of materials from suppliers to manufacturing sites, while driving operational excellence, automation, and strategic partnerships.
Role is based in Singapore and will have other Asia sites responsibility
Specifically, the role will be responsible for the following:
Strategic Leadership
Accountable for Southeast Asia Hub and Spoke, Ship Kit Operations and identified Asia countries Logistics Operations
Develop and execute logistics network design and process strategies aligned with business growth in the region and cost optimization goals
Develop strategic partner (3PL) engagement strategies and initiatives roadmap for partnership/improvement.
Drive initiatives for automation, productivity improvement, and advanced analytics adoption
Operational Management
Ensure infrastructure and resources are in place to support the logistics strategies.
Identify process optimization opportunities to drive productivity/velocity and partner with Supply Chain for implementation and governance
Conduct in-dept data analysis to understand logistics operations related problems and opportunities. Distill findings into actionable steps for improvement
Seek out technological solutions to assist in data analysis, visualization, and decision making
Embrace technology and automations to drive productivity and velocity improvements
Setting operational goals and objectives, formulating budgets and oversee expenditures
Manage operational performance and drive Logistics Service Providers improvements
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in Safety, Cost, Quality and Delivery.
Seek out market insights, tools and best practices to drive improvements
Develop business requirements and partner with commodity sourcing team for e RFP events.
Lead quarterly business reviews with key suppliers and logistics partners
Provide functional leadership with cross functional teams to drive corporate wide initiatives and system architecture improvements
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Compliance and Policies
Partners with Global Trade and local customs to ensure process designs and executions are following Applied trade policies
Maintain adherence to trade compliance, brokerage requirements, and internal audit standards.
Team Leadership & Development:
Build and mentor a high-performing team, including managers, analysts, and operational staff
Responsibility for directing and overseeing operations/projects.
Minimum Requirements: Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Logistics Operations, Transportation or Supply Chain
Minimum 20 years relevant operations experience in Logistics operations disciplines
At least 8 years’ experience in Logistics Service Providers management
Strong understanding of related industry sector
Demonstrated experience in managing warehouse network and inventory optimization, process improvement, cost and productivity improvements
Experience in a fast paced, high volume industry environment would be an asset
Knowledge & Skills:
Experience and familiarity with automation technologies (e.g., Autostore, VLM, robotics) and digital tools
Strong vendor management skills.
Proven track record of leading teams ( internal and 3PL), developing logistics strategies and driving executions to meet business goals and objectives
Ability to demonstrate high sense of urgency and is highly adaptable in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Attention to details and analytical in problem solving
Strong ability to effectively communicate at all levels and collaborate with a culturally diversified cross functional team
Excellent English written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge in DMAIC, 8D and Six Sigma typed Quality methodologies is preferred.
Job Nature
Need to oversee weekend operations (during Applied fiscal quarter end)
