Principal Accountabilities and Tasks
Perform and troubleshoot experimental work to ensure that students achieve reliable and precise data to satisfy the learning objectives of the lesson.
Set-up and maintenance of necessary technical devices.
Manage & order consumables based on predicted student numbers.
Ensure the efficient use of resources in the delivery of the laboratory sessions.
Coordinate laboratory class sessions.
Ensure the smooth running of laboratory programmes by providing assistance and support during laboratory practical sessions.
Support in mentoring students during practical sessions at the diploma level within applicable subject areas as assigned.
Adhere and assist in the administration and enforcement of health and safety matters.
Ensure ongoing cleanliness and maintenance of laboratory and preparatory work areas and equipment.
Research & Knowledge Exchange
Participate in the use of e-learning platforms where applicable.
Handle laboratory-related enquiries, feedback and correspondence with students, companies and university partners effectively.
Teamwork
Participate actively during department and programme meetings.
Contribute and work proactively with colleagues in institution-wide working groups or committees to meet goals and timelines.
Engage and work with colleagues within the School and PSB Academy through collaborative projects where applicable
Miscellaneous Duties
Maintain own continuing professional development in addition to training and development provided by the institution.
Others
Any other ad-hoc duties as required by the company from time to time.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science in related discipline (Chemistry, Pharmaceutical science)
Applicant should be familiar with synthetic organic chemistry.
Entry level candidates will be considered
1 – 2 years of relevant working experience in a research laboratory or teaching laboratory would be advantageous.
Prior teaching/ instructional experience would be advantageous
Dedicated and goal-oriented.
Strong time-management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Willing to work at night (weekdays) and Saturdays as well as occasional Sundays when needed to support the work/classes. Teaching term is around 10 weeks - night classes can be twice a week. Weekends will be once a week. If no term period, there will not be any nights/weekends.
