Job Summary

The Catering Manager cum Chef is a dual-role position responsible for both the culinary excellence and operational efficiency of catering services. This individual oversees menu creation, food preparation and kitchen management, while also directing the planning, coordination and execution of catering events. The role requires strong leadership, culinary expertise and business acumen to deliver high-quality food and seamless event operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Culinary:

  • Plan and design menus for events and daily catering services

  • Lead food preparation and cooking for events of various sizes

  • Ensure consistent quality, presentation and taste of all dishes

  • Manage food costing, inventory and kitchen hygiene standards

  • Train and supervise kitchen staff

  • Perform any ad hoc duties as assigned

 

Operations:

  • Coordinate with sales team, catering logistics including staffing, delivery, setup and breakdown

  • Liaise with clients to understand requirements and tailor catering solutions

  • Maintain supplier relationships and ensure timely procurement of ingredients

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

  • Manage budgets and report on catering performance metrics

  • Perform any ad hoc duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a chef and in an operations management role within catering or hospitality

  • Culinary certification or relevant degree preferred

  • Valid WSQ Food Safety Course Level 1 & 3 certification

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays and early/late hours as needed

  • Valid driver’s license (if role involves site visits/deliveries)

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with large-scale catering events

  • Knowledge of different cuisines and dietary requirements

  • Tech-savvy (familiar with POS systems, inventory software, scheduling apps)
