About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Engineer to lead planning, costing, and process control. Play a critical role in translating customer requirements into accurate and feasible job orders, ensuring alignment between design specifications and manufacturing capabilities.
You’ll support quotation processes, interpret technical drawings, develop production routings, and take ownership of job releases. You’ll also be the technical point of contact for material selection and non-conformance assessments, while mentoring junior engineers.
This is a hands-on engineering role for professionals who enjoy problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Costing and Quotation Support
Reviewing and support accurate job costing by analysing material, labour, and process costs.
Provide engineering input during customer quotation stages to ensure feasibility.
Technical Drawing Interpretation and Production Planning
Interpret drawings translate them into engineering specifications
Create Bill of Materials (BOM) and generate production process planning using ERP system.
Prepare clear and complete production drawings aligned with manufacturing capabilities.
Job Firm and Job Release
Take full ownership of job firming and release, ensuring alignment with production schedules and capabilities.
Serve as gatekeeper for job readiness – validating quality, completeness, and feasibility before release.
Materials Sourcing and Recommendations
Evaluate customer material specifications and coordinate with Supply Chain to recommend suitable material and substitutes.
Justify material choices based on technical fit, machinability, and manufacturing risk.
Non-Conformance Management (SPR and MRB)
Support the resolution of lower-risk non-conformance issues through structured technical assessments.
Recommend adjustments, escalate when needed and assist in documentation of Source Problem Report (SPR).
Investigate minor internal errors, propose corrective actions, and assist in preparing documentation for Material Review Board (MRB).
Who we are looking for?
Required Qualifications and Experience
Polytechnic Diploma or higher in Engineering (Advanced & Digital Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics)
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
Strong working knowledge of:
Material properties and machining requirements (how geometry, tolerances, and material choices affect production.
Technical drawing interpretation (including welding and critical features)
ERP systems (BOM, process routing, job releases).
Proven ability to:
Assess and release job packages to meet production readiness standards.
Recommend material options based on availability, machine capabilities, and performance requirements.
Support resolution of non-conformance issues (SPRs/MRBs) with sound engineering judgment.
Preferred Attributes
Hands-on expertise with CNC machining and precision measurement tools, with a strong understanding of their strategic applications.
Track record of leading engineering projects and coordinating across functions (engineering and production).
Strong stakeholder management in cross-functional collaboration and client-facing engagements.
Mentoring skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
