The Buildings and Systems Engineering (BaSE) Supervisor is responsible for protecting UPS assets—including buildings, equipment, and grounds—while ensuring full compliance with environmental and safety. This role oversees facility maintenance, conveyor system reliability, and housekeeping operations across Singapore & Southeast Asia region. The position also involves managing minor construction & conveyors projects.
The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and a proactive approach to supporting operations as well as team management skills. This role will require approx. 10% travel in APAC and occasional attendance during nights/weekends for critical equipment issues.
Key Responsibilities
Conveyor Reliability
Manage mechanic/ conveyor vendors dispatch for scheduled maintenance as well as emergency repairs
Provide support for conveyor or equipment related breakdowns and issues that arise during operations, including emergency response to reported conveyor breakdowns to minimize impact to Operations
Conduct regular conveyor guard audits to ensure conveyors are compliant to UPS conveyor guarding standards
Oversee maintenance methods by mechanic/ conveyor vendors, including conducting of trainings and regular audits
Maintain an accurate record of the spare parts inventory in all Southeast Asia hubs
Generate reports outlining overall system effectiveness and reliability
Facility Maintenance & Compliance
Oversee maintenance and housekeeping across Singapore & other countries in the Southeast Asia Region
Ensure adherence to UPS Hazardous Materials Procedures and international/national regulations for storage of hazardous materials within UPS facilities
Conduct audits, facilitate Corrective Action Plans, and deliver employee training on compliance requirements
Ensure regularly scheduled maintenance is completed timely and effectively, and all deficiencies are corrected. Oversee invoicing and manage costs for planned and emergency maintenance
Able to standby and provide onsite attendance to critical equipment failure for e.g. conveyor break downs, chiller trips etc
Monitor environmental and safety compliance for Southeast Asia facilities
Review facility regulations, perform audits, and analyse trends to address compliance issues
Manage and provide guidance to a team of 4 – 2 building technicians & 1 mechanic & 1 admin
Technical Support
Understand UPS building standards and conveyor specifications in order to provide support & guidance to cross functional teams
Construction Project Management
Manage low to moderately complex construction projects, such as conveyor installations and facility modifications
Ensure projects adhere to contract documentation, timelines, and cost control measures
Healthcare warehouse management
Manage all aspects of facility, housekeeping, equipment maintenance in the healthcare warehouse in adherence to GDPMDS, Health Sciences Authority (HSA) & UPS Healthcare requirements
Carry out investigations & root cause analysis for non conformance & critical equipment failures resulting in temperature excursions
Key Requirements
Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Automation, Civil or Electrical
Basic AutoCAD drafting skills
Experience managing construction projects and ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Exposure to/understanding of automation in some regards, preferably in relation to conveyance, sortation, and building systems
Knowledge of facility maintenance and conveyor systems
GDP/GMP knowledge in healthcare logistics
Prior people/stakeholder management experience is preferred
Willing to travel for work (10% of the time) and to support critical issues on nights/weekends
