Job Summary
The Financial Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining accounting records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role includes month-end closing, statutory reporting, tax support, and involvement in regional or group-level reporting and consolidation where required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS or local GAAP.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of financial data to internal and external stakeholders.
Support preparation of management reports, variance analysis, and financial commentary.
2. Month-End & Year-End Closing
Manage general ledger activities and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
Perform and review journal entries (e.g., accruals, amortization, reclassifications).
Conduct balance sheet account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
3. Group and Regional Reporting
Assist in the preparation and submission of regional and group financial reports.
Perform intercompany reconciliations and coordinate with affiliates on variances.
Support the consolidation process including reporting package submissions and group adjustments.
4. Statutory and Tax Compliance
Prepare statutory accounts in compliance with local regulations and assist in filing with authorities.
Liaise with tax consultants or internal tax teams for tax computations, filings, and compliance.
Support audits and tax audit as required.
5. Audit and Internal Control
Coordinate and support external and internal audits by preparing documentation and audit schedules.
Ensure adherence to internal control procedures and corporate governance policies.
Assist with SOX compliance or equivalent if applicable.
6. Process Improvement & Systems
Contribute to process enhancements, standardization, and automation initiatives.
Assist in ERP implementation, upgrades, or system optimization projects.
Support finance transformation projects at the regional or group level.
7. Process Improvement & Systems
Support ad-hoc tasks and perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Experience
3–5 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably within a regional or group-level finance function.
Hands-on experience with monthly closings, financial reporting, and audit support.
Familiarity with intercompany transactions and group consolidation processes.
Proven ability to work with external auditors and manage statutory reporting requirements.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA) is preferred.
Knowledge of IFRS and/or local GAAP is essential.
Other Requirements
Proficient in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Business Central (BC).
Experience with consolidation tools (e.g., Hyperion, OneStream) is an advantage.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data analysis).
Ability to liaise effectively with auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies.
Collaborative and able to work with cross-functional teams on finance-related tasks and projects.
