Job Responsibilities

  • Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code that meets clearly scoped requirements.
  • Deliver moderately complex features spanning multiple services or integrations, with architectural considerations around modularity, scalability and resiliency.
  • Evaluate solution options and provide well-reasoned recommendations aligned with product needs and team goals.
  • Proactively reduce technical debt and contribute to long-term maintainability.
  • Contribute to reusable test automation frameworks and support the adoption of CI/CD, observability and automation practices.
  • Build in-depth knowledge of the team’s product architecture, dependencies and data flows.
  • Author technical design documents with minimal guidance and conduct architecture reviews for less experienced engineers.
  • Lead incident triage and drive post-incident reviews, including root cause analysis and preventive action proposals.
  • Ensure monitoring and alerting are in place for features under your ownership.
  • Treat security, compliance and performance as core design constraints.
  • Write clear, unambiguous technical specifications that effectively guide both AI-assisted delivery and fellow engineers.
  • Identify and correct AI-generated code that introduces technical debt, antipatterns or security risks before merging.
  • Take full ownership of broad, ambiguously scoped projects and drive them to successful outcomes.
  • Take calculated risks, treating both successes and setbacks as opportunities for learning and growth.
  • Mentor and support team members through knowledge sharing, problem decomposition and constructive feedback.
  • Raise team productivity and capability through hands-on guidance and support.
  • Translate team goals into actionable plans, breaking down work and prioritising tasks effectively.
  • Proactively identify opportunities, drive workstreams and synthesise data into clear recommendations linked to organisational impact.
  • Identify and mitigate project-level risks, anticipating potential challenges before they arise.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration and guide team members to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Navigate and resolve disagreements constructively, facilitating alignment among team members and stakeholders.
  • Challenge existing processes constructively to drive continuous improvement and change initiatives at team and division level.
  • Share successes and lessons learnt, offering recommendations that enhance team performance and foster a culture of learning.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer or Electronics Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on DevOps software engineering experience using Agile methodologies such as Scrum.
  • Strong proficiency in Java or Python, ReactJS, RESTful APIs, ETL/AWS Glue for data migration, and SQL and databases.
  • Experience with modern full-stack technologies spanning SaaS, bespoke and COTS solutions.
  • Track record of delivering large-scale, high-availability solutions, preferably in the public sector.
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations and privacy considerations in the public sector.
  • Commitment to public good and engineering excellence, with a strong sense of craftsmanship.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.
  • Experience with Government Commercial Cloud (GCC), SHIP-HATS and the SG Tech Stack (SGTS) is highly advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with Ivalua SaaS is highly advantageous.
