About the role

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Lawyer will serve as a trusted legal advisor supporting Digital Edge's growth across Asia Pacific. The role will be responsible for leading and advising on complex strategic transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, project financing, joint ventures and corporate development initiatives, while providing practical legal support to business leaders across multiple jurisdictions.

The Lawyer will operate as a business-oriented partner, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives in a fast-paced and evolving environment. The successful candidate will work closely with senior executives, finance, development, investment, commercial and operations teams, as well as external counsel and key stakeholders throughout the region.

This role will be based in Singapore and will support transactions and projects across Asia Pacific, with a particular focus on Japanese-speaking counter parties and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Mergers & Acquisitions and Strategic Transactions

  • Lead legal support for acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, investments and broader corporate development activities across Asia Pacific.
  • Manage transaction execution including legal due diligence, structuring, negotiation, documentation and completion processes.
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to identify risks, propose solutions and facilitate successful execution of strategic transactions.
  • Support post-acquisition integration activities and ongoing governance matters.

Project Financing and Development

  • Advise on complex project financing transactions, including debt financing, security arrangements, intercreditor agreements and related financing documentation.
  • Support the development and expansion of Digital Edge's data center portfolio by providing legal guidance on investment, construction and infrastructure-related matters.
  • Work closely with finance and development teams to structure transactions that support growth objectives while appropriately managing legal and commercial risk.

Commercial and Corporate Legal Support

  • Draft, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer contracts, supplier arrangements, technology agreements, confidentiality agreements and strategic partnerships.
  • Provide legal advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance and general commercial matters across the region.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments that may impact Digital Edge's business and provide practical recommendations to stakeholders.

Stakeholder Management and Business Partnership

  • Build strong relationships with business leaders and become a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and manage external counsel to ensure high-quality, cost-effective legal support.
  • Deliver clear, concise and commercially practical advice to support efficient decision-making.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of legal processes, templates and governance frameworks that support a rapidly growing organization.

The successful candidate

Experience

  • Approximately 8 years of post-qualification legal experience gained from a leading law firm and/or multinational organization.
  • Strong experience advising on cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other strategic corporate transactions.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting complex project financing and infrastructure-related transactions.
  • Prior in-house legal experience within a multinational corporation, infrastructure platform, real asset business or similarly complex environment.
  • Experience in data centers, infrastructure, energy, telecommunications or private equity-backed businesses would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Candidates with prior in-house experience within a keiretsu-equivalent organization, such as a large, group-affiliated conglomerate, are preferred.

Communication and Languages

  • Fluent Japanese and English language skills, with the ability to negotiate, draft and communicate effectively with Japanese and international stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and practical manner to non-legal audiences.

Education

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Qualified to practice law in a recognized jurisdiction.
  • Additional qualifications in finance, business or related disciplines would be advantageous
