Position Summary:
The Senior Technician is responsible for carrying out advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, inspection, and servicing activities on Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and customer-owned assets.
The role acts as a technical reference for Technicians and Mechanics, ensuring equipment reliability, safety compliance, operational availability, and professional support to airline and ground handling customers.
The Senior Technician supports workshop operations by mentoring junior technicians, assisting with diagnostics, promoting a strong safety culture, and ensuring works are completed in accordance with OEM specifications, airport requirements, and TCR standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repair
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on GSE fleet in accordance with maintenance plans and work instructions.
Carry out corrective maintenance, repairs, inspections, and component replacements on diesel, hybrid, and electric GSE.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic faults using appropriate tools and technical references.
Use OEM manuals, diagnostic software, wiring schematics, and technical documentation to execute repairs accurately.
Conduct post-repair testing and commissioning before releasing equipment back to operation.
Support fleet availability, reliability, and equipment uptime targets.
Technical Troubleshooting
Perform advanced troubleshooting on diesel engines, EV systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, electrical circuits, CAN Bus systems, batteries, chargers, GPUs, ACUs, belt loaders, tractors, cargo loaders, passenger stairs, and other GSE.
Identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions to reduce repeat failures.
Escalate recurring defects, technical risks, and engineering concerns with clear supporting evidence.
Recommend practical improvements to improve reliability, safety, and maintainability.
Workshop Operations
Support daily workshop planning, job prioritization, and manpower coordination where required.
Prioritize maintenance activities based on operational criticality, customer requirements, and safety risk.
Maintain workshop housekeeping standards in line with 5S principles and safe working practices.
Ensure tools, equipment, lifting devices, and workshop resources are used safely and maintained properly.
Participate in shift, weekend, public holiday, standby, and breakdown support where required by operations.
Leadership & Mentorship
Provide technical guidance and on-the-job coaching to Technicians, Mechanics, new hires, and apprentices.
Share best practices, lessons learned, and troubleshooting methods with the workshop team.
Support competency development, internal technical assessments, and safe work observations.
Promote accountability, teamwork, and timely completion of assigned work orders.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
Comply with Singapore Workplace Safety and Health requirements, airport rules, customer requirements, and TCR safety policies.
Perform maintenance in accordance with OEM requirements, TCR procedures, and applicable site controls.
Report hazards, incidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and equipment defects promptly.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety inspections, quality checks, audits, and corrective action follow-up.
Apply Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO), isolation controls, lifting safety, hot work controls, and working-at-height controls where applicable.
Documentation & Reporting
Complete work orders accurately and on time in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Update maintenance records, inspection reports, service documentation, parts usage, and defect history.
Prepare clear technical notes, job findings, photos, and failure analysis input where required.
Notify supervisors of parts shortages, tooling requirements, repeat failures, and operational risks.
Customer Support
Support customer operations during breakdowns, urgent defects, and service disruptions.
Maintain a professional relationship with airline, ground handler, airport, and contractor stakeholders.
Support service delivery in line with agreed operational expectations, SLA requirements, and TCR service standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, Heavy Equipment Technology, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in GSE, heavy equipment, automotive maintenance, industrial equipment, or airport maintenance operations.
Experience working in an airport, airside, ramp, or customer-facing maintenance environment.
Relevant driving license, airport pass eligibility, electrical safety, lifting, forklift, MEWP, first aid, or other site-required certifications are advantageous.
Technical Competencies:
Diesel engine diagnostics and repair.
Electrical schematics and fault tracing.
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
EV systems, battery charging, and high-voltage safety awareness.
Preventive maintenance planning and inspection standards.
Diagnostic tools and technical documentation.
CMMS work order discipline.
Workshop tooling, lifting equipment, and safe work controls.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in workshop, ramp, airside, and outdoor operational environments.
Role may involve standing, bending, climbing, lifting tools, handling equipment, and working around moving vehicles.
Shift work, weekend work, public holiday work, overtime, standby, and emergency breakdown support may be required.
The employee must comply with all site access, security, safety, PPE, and customer requirements.
