Position Summary

The Senior Engineer / Assistant Project Manager is responsible for supporting the Project Manager in the planning, execution, monitoring, and successful delivery of industrial wastewater treatment plant projects. The role involves coordinating design, engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning activities to ensure the projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contractual, regulatory, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Assist the Project Manager in the overall management and execution of projects.

  • Coordinate project activities from engineering through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.

  • Monitor project schedules and progress against key milestones.

  • Prepare project execution plans, work schedules, and progress reports.

  • Track project costs, variations, and resource utilization.

  • Identify project risks and implement mitigation measures.

  • Coordinate project meetings and maintain action trackers.

Engineering Coordination

  • Review process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation or civil engineering deliverables.

  • Coordinate inter-disciplinary engineering activities to ensure timely completion.

  • Review vendor drawings and technical submissions.

  • Resolve engineering issues arising during construction.

  • Ensure engineering complies with project specifications and regulatory requirements.

Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Prepare technical specifications and scope of work.

  • Participate in technical evaluation of suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Coordinate equipment manufacturing, inspections, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and deliveries.

  • Monitor vendor performance and delivery schedules.

Construction Management

  • Coordinate site construction activities with subcontractors.

  • Monitor installation quality and compliance with approved drawings.

  • Resolve construction issues and interface matters.

  • Review method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and work procedures.

  • Monitor site productivity and construction progress.

Testing & Commissioning

  • Support planning and execution of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.

  • Coordinate functional testing and performance testing.

  • Assist in troubleshooting process and equipment issues.

  • Support optimization of plant performance during commissioning.

  • Coordinate final acceptance and project handover.

Contract Administration

  • Assist in administering contracts with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.

  • Monitor contractual obligations and deliverables.

  • Prepare variation proposals and supporting documentation.

  • Review subcontractor claims and progress payments.

  • Maintain proper project documentation.

Quality, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Quality Management System requirements.

  • Promote safe work practices and compliance with workplace safety regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental permits and discharge requirements.

  • Participate in quality audits and safety inspections.

Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, authorities, suppliers, and subcontractors.

  • Coordinate with internal engineering, procurement, HSE, QA/QC, and commissioning teams.

  • Prepare project presentations and technical reports.

  • Maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders.

Requirements

Education

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in wastewater, water, industrial process, or infrastructure projects, preferably on EPC projects.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Scheduling and Microsoft Office applications.
