Job Description
The Early Intervention Educator integrates a range of teaching and learning approaches and identifies new approaches to conduct lessons for children. She/He enriches children’s learning through implementing curriculum, and adapting and integrating developmentally appropriate teaching and classroom management strategies. She/He creates quality natural learning environment and facilitates children’s development and learning. She/He partners with families and caregivers and coordinates with community stakeholders, volunteers and social service providers to support the delivery of Centre initiatives, programmes and services. She/He also carries out data collection for inquiry projects. She/He works in a transdisciplinary team in the course of her/his work.
Key Responsibilities
Conducts functional and developmental assessments for children enrolled in InSP
Develops, implements and reviews Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with Therapists, Educators and families
Works closely with EC Educators to co-plan and co-teach lessons, develop learning materials and design inclusive learning environments that support diverse needs
Plans and delivers individual and/ or small group intervention sessions for children under supervision, using evidence-based and developmentally appropriate strategies
Provides consultative support and strategies to EC Educators and parents through focused observation, recommending changes and classroom-based support where appropriate
Monitors, documents and evaluates children’s developmental progress throughout the year
Communicates assessment findings, intervention plans, goals and outcomes clearly and professionally to families and relevant stakeholders
Regularly reviews the effectiveness of the intervention programme and recommends improvements to enhance existing support frameworks
Participates in multidisciplinary meetings with Centre Leader, EC and EI Educators, Therapists and other relevant stakeholders to review children’s progress, align intervention strategies and ensure coordinated support
Manages administrative duties related to the programmes, including but not limited to case reports, documentation and case management
Plans, conducts and facilitates training sessions and workshops for EC Educators and parents. Plans, conducts and supports family engagement activities
Prepares and takes part in parent-teacher meetings together with EC and EI Educators
Provides guidance, resources and support to parents to enhance their understanding of child’s developmental needs and strategies for home based support
Undertakes any other tasks assigned
