About the role

Safety Operator responsible for monitoring autonomous vehicle systems during operation and ensuring safety throughout test drives. The role involves maintaining high levels of alertness, monitoring vehicle behaviour and system alerts, and taking manual control of the vehicle when necessary.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor autonomous vehicle systems during operation and report irregularities or malfunctions

• Maintain high levels of alertness and attention throughout each test drive to ensure safety and accurate monitoring

• Monitor vehicle behaviour, system alerts, and surrounding environment

• Take manual control of the vehicle when necessary to ensure safety

• Conduct pre-drive and post-drive vehicle checks

• Communicate with field teams and support staff to resolve operational issues

• Document test results, performance data, and report anomalies to the technical team

• Act as a first responder in case of vehicle malfunction

About you

• A valid class 3 licence

• Minimum 3 years of driving experience with a clean driving record

• Training or experience in defensive driving techniques, including hazard anticipation and accident prevention, is advantageous

• Basic understanding of vehicle systems or autonomous technology is a plus

• Ability to remain focused for extended periods of time

• Good communication and reporting skills

• Willingness to undergo a driving skills assessment to evaluate readiness for manual intervention during autonomous vehicle operations

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including shift work, weekends and public holidays
