Job Summary
The Assistant Director supports the Director in driving the Community Empowerment Department’s strategic priorities to improve outcomes for the Malay/Muslim community. The role leads community engagement strategies, develops partnerships across government and community stakeholders, drives service innovation, oversees programme implementation and operational excellence, and provides leadership to multidisciplinary teams using data and insights to strengthen community impact. The role is also expected to champion the use of AI, data and digital technologies to enhance community engagement, analyse family profiles and trends, improve operational efficiency and enable evidence-based decision-making across the department.
The incumbent is expected to work between 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and may be required to work over weekends and public holidays to support organisation events. Although he/she is largely expected to work in an indoor environment, he/she is also expected to travel out of office for meetings.
Key Responsibility Areas
Community Engagement & Outreach
Lead and implement community engagement and outreach strategies.
Plan, deploy and evaluate engagement initiatives using data-driven insights.
Build relationships with community stakeholders and strengthen outreach effectiveness.
Community Strategy & Service Excellence
Drive service innovation, programme improvement and operational excellence.
Analyse trends and community needs to inform strategic planning.
Develop frameworks, quality standards and performance measures.
Build workforce capability and organisational effectiveness.
Stakeholder & Partnership Management
Develop strategic partnerships with government agencies, schools, community organisations and corporate partners.
Represent MENDAKI at inter-agency platforms and collaborative workgroups.
Strengthen ecosystem coordination and cross-sector collaboration.
Leadership & Strategic Management
Translate organisational strategy into departmental plans and KPIs.
Lead multidisciplinary teams and strategic projects.
Coach managers, manage resources and drive organisational change.
Other Duties
Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the HOD/Senior Management Team
Requirements
Degree from a recognised university in any discipline. Qualifications or experience in social sciences, community development, public policy, psychology, sociology, social work or related fields will be advantageous.
At least 7 years' experience in the social service, community or public sector, with demonstrated experience in strategic management, partnership development and people leadership.
Proven ability to leverage AI and digital technologies in day-to-day work to improve service delivery, enhance productivity, generate insights, streamline operations and strengthen community outcomes.
