Supervised Contact Worker (Ad Hoc) - #1166375

About the Job:

We are seeking 2 to 3 ad hoc social workers or individuals with a degree in a related field and at least 2 years of working experience in child protection work. This will be on a contract-for-service basis.

When children and young persons (CYPs) are placed in alternative care, supervised access sessions are conducted in the presence of Supervised Contact Worker to support the continuity of relationships between the CYPs and their parents/ significant persons in a safe environment.

Job Scope:

• Supervise access to ensure a safe contact between the child and the natural family

• Strengthen bonds between parents/caregivers and children

• Support and guide parents/caregivers to apply positive child management and parenting strategies during supervised access

• Assess CYPs’ and parents/significant persons’ readiness for reunification

• Facilitate and support the reunification work, if assessed suitable

• Writing of case notes, reports and updating of administrative information

• Attending meetings when required

Requirements:

• Experience in working with families, managing parenting issues and handling of child welfare cases

· Experience in managing or de-escalating tense situations between adults

• Trauma-informed and knowledge of attachment issues will be an advantage

• Good report writing skills

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Able to plan your tasks independently and open to learning and feedback

• Responsible, accountable, resilient, flexible and self-motivated

• Able to take on sessions that are scheduled regularly including weekdays, weekday evenings and Saturdays. The duration of each access sessions can range from an hour to a few hours.

Qualifications:

• Degree or graduate diploma in social work or equivalent

• At least 3 years of work experience with family and children
