Gym Floor Assistant - #1166231
Mokara Gymnastics Academy
Gym Floor Assistant
For people who genuinely love being around kids — in every moment of the class day.
About the Role
Do you love working with kids — not just when it's exciting, but in the quieter moments too? We're looking for a warm, patient Gym Floor Assistant who finds meaning in making every child feel comfortable, seen, and cared for throughout their time at the gym.
A big part of this role happens in the margins of class — managing the waiting area, accompanying children to the restroom, settling a nervous student before their session, or simply being a reassuring presence during transitions. When you are on the floor, you'll support coaches and help things run smoothly. In both settings, what matters most is a genuine connection with the kids in front of you.
No gymnastics experience is required. If you're someone who finds joy in those small, everyday moments with children — not just the big, energetic ones — this role is for you. For those interested, there is also a natural pathway into our recreational coaching team over time.
What You'll Do
Be Present with Kids
· Supervise and engage with students in the waiting area before, during, and after sessions.
· Accompany children to the restroom or other areas as needed, making sure they feel safe and comfortable.
· Settle nervous or upset students with calm reassurance before and between sessions.
· Be a consistent, friendly face that children can rely on throughout their time at the gym.
Support Coaches on the Floor
· Assist coaches with class transitions, helping students move smoothly between activities.
· Help guide students during warm-ups, drills, and rotations.
· Step in immediately if a student needs support or has a concern during a session.
Keep Kids Safe
· Monitor students at all times — in the waiting area and on the floor.
· Respond promptly to minor incidents, escalating to coaches or the back office when necessary.
· Reinforce gym safety rules in a calm, age-appropriate way.
Keep Things Running
· Help set up and tidy equipment before, during, and after classes.
· Communicate clearly with coaches and staff throughout each session.
What We're Looking For
· A genuine love of working with kids in all moments — not just the exciting ones.
· Warm, patient, and calm — especially with anxious or unsettled children.
· Attentive and switched on, even during quieter stretches like waiting area supervision.
· Comfortable moving around the gym floor when needed.
· Strong, natural communication with children, coaches, and parents.
