Primary responsibilities:
To perform research and development activities to expand laboratory testing capabilities.
To develop and validate new test methods, including evaluating measurement uncertainty.
Support business growth by developing new analytical services and improving existing test methods.
Support troubleshoots problems related to laboratory equipment and test methods, including process and operation enhancement.
Support operation, enhancement and efficient laboratory operation with optimal resource utilization and turnaround time performance.
Maintain compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 and internal quality management system.
Specific responsibilities:
Design, develop and validate new analytical methods for chemical testing.
Expand laboratory scope of capabilities and accreditation to meet regulatory and client requirements.
Evaluate new technologies, equipment and testing methodologies.
Lead troubleshooting for analytical issues and provide technical solutions.
Solve problems and trouble shoot test results, evaluate alternative choices and help exercise judgement in selecting the best solutions
To participate in internal and external audits, proficiency testing and inter-laboratory comparisons.
To train and provide technical guidance to laboratory analyst and chemist on new analytical methods/tests.
Collaborate with Sales / CRM team to support technical discussion with clients.
Support business development initiatives.
To ensure that the KPIS are met for the laboratory scope expansion and turnaround times.
To execute the job with strict observance to SGS Code of Integrity, QHSE, and laboratory safety procedures.
Promote safe laboratory practices and regulatory compliance.
Provides feedback and contributes ideas and suggestions to improve laboratory techniques, test protocols, processes and special handling of samples and equipment.
At all times, adopt safe behavior by exercising due regard for the Health and Safety of SGS employees and clients, in line with SGS policies and procedures
Perform any other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Management.
Requirements:
Degree in Chemistry or Equivalent.
At least 5 years operational experience in laboratory testing.
Good understanding of the ISO/IEC 17025 and laboratory QA/QC requirements.
Good instrumental knowledge in operating and trouble-shooting of ICP-OES, ICP-MS, GC-FID, GC-MS, IC, HPLC and TOC equipment.
Communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.
Strictly adhere to test protocols and safety procedures.
Strong attention to details.
Must be able to multi-task and work effectively in fast –paced environment.
Works well under pressure and challenges status quo.
Able to interact well with the team.
