Positive Objective
Everyone plays a part in the students’ journey and experience on the ESSEC APAC campus.
The Librarian manages and is responsible for the operational aspects of the centre’s activities. Based in Singapore, this role provides access services to support teaching, learning and research needs for stakeholders in ESSEC Asia-Pacific.
Reporting to the Head of Digital and Campus Infrastructure in Singapore, this role requires close collaboration with the various functions especially the Academic Affairs team as well as Faculty/PMPs, in delivering positive experience for all stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Collection Management
Participates in the development and implementation of the collection acquisition policy, in close collaboration with the ESSEC Learning Centre in France.
1. Selects and buys documents (books, eBooks, etc.) required for pedagogical needs.
2. Participates in the evaluation and selection of suppliers.
3. Follows the budget, participating in annual budget exercise.
4. Ensures the administrative management of the loan, coordinate reminders, follow-up on reservations and renewals.
5. Create and maintain indicators and analysis, using tools such as Excel (pivot tables, dashboards) and, where relevant, data visualisation platforms (e.g. Power BI, Qlik) to track usage, loans and budget trends.
6. Conducts data-driven collection assessments to identify overlaps, gaps and optimisation opportunities; evaluates and negotiates resource subscriptions using evidence-based metrics to support budget planning and renewal decisions.
7. Reviews the collection to determine relevance and plans for the refresh of the resource as required.
Reference, Promoting and communication
1. Promote usage of Library resources and services, including e-resources, tracks and monitors traffic and propose ideas for improvements where relevant.
2. Provide in-person and online reference services at a service-oriented and all-purpose reference desk.
3. Addresses research inquiries and fulfils information needs across the entire community, including faculty, PhD candidates, research assistants and degree programme participants, including copyright advisory and literature search support.
4. Provide training to users and assist them in their documentary research.
5. Stays current on AI-assisted discovery and research tools relevant to the Library’s systems and incorporates AI literacy (including critical evaluation of AI-generated content and responsible use) into user training and workshops.
6. Regularly assess effectiveness of library services through in-person and online surveys and questionnaires, or other methods.
7. Design new documentary products (tutorials, product sheets, etc.) for library users.
8. Design and conduct Learning Centre related workshop for all students, during their induction week and support any subsequent requests for training.
Cases and other pedagogical materials
1. Procure pedagogical contents for courses (purchase case studies, simulation games, etc.)
2. Follows up on indicators and budget.
This is a non-exhaustive list of duties and can evolve with time or as assigned by the Reporting Officer(s).
Position Requirements /People Specifications
a) Sound knowledge of library software and databases
b) Meticulous, well-organised and with good time management skills in adapting to a fast-paced and innovative environment
c) A mature candidate who is a good team player with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
d) Proficient in MS office applications
e) Experience in providing instruction to promote information literacy and AI literacy (including critical evaluation of AI-generated content), is a plus
f) Experience in leveraging on Google Tools: Managing Google Agenda and other Google Functions is a plus
g) Ability to make preliminary decision with proposals.
h) Ability to review/negotiate simple payment contracts with External vendors
Qualifications
a) Possess Diploma/Degree qualification
b) A degree in library and information science (LIS) or equivalent is preferred.
c) At least 3 years’ relevant professional experience in in the Library and Learning resources area.

The incumbent is expected to collaborate with colleagues across all functions within ESSEC APAC campus as well as across campuses overseas, to deliver positive experience for all stakeholders.
Working Environment and Pace
The job incumbent will need to work independently in a fast paced and dynamic work environment. Some level of flexibility and agility is required.
Working Hours
The working hours will be Weekdays (Mondays to Fridays) and working time is 9am to 6pm. This is an on-site role.
