About the Role

Engineering Edge is looking for a Senior Technical Engineer to lead our Technical Department, which includes the QC/QA function.

This is a leadership role responsible for technical support, QC/QA management, supplier quality, customer complaint resolution, engineering change control, product certification and internal workflow improvement.

The role reports directly to the General Manager and Managing Director.

We are looking for someone who can lead engineers, close process loopholes, prevent costly mistakes, control technical documentation and ensure that every product, supplier and department follows one clear QC/QA standard.

The Senior Technical Engineer will lead the Technical Department and work closely with all departments to ensure technical, quality and process requirements are properly controlled.


Key Responsibilities

1. Lead Technical & QC/QA Department

  • Lead and manage engineers and QC/QA personnel.

  • Plan, organise and improve the Technical and QC/QA functions.

  • Set clear department standards, responsibilities and follow-up procedures.

  • Ensure timely technical and quality support to internal teams, customers and suppliers.

  • Build a culture of accuracy, accountability, discipline and continuous improvement.


2. Technical Support & Product Application

  • Provide product and application-related technical support to internal and external customers.

  • Support Business Development and Sales teams with technical advice, product comparison and application guidance.

  • Analyse technical issues and propose practical solutions.

  • Develop and maintain technical documents, product guides and training materials.

  • Translate technical information into clear explanations for customers and commercial teams.


3. QC/QA Management

  • Develop, maintain and improve QC/QA processes, inspection plans and quality standards.

  • Ensure internal QC/QA procedures are properly followed and documented.

  • Conduct root cause analysis for technical and quality issues.

  • Implement corrective and preventive actions.

  • Ensure the QC/QA team meets internal, external and customer audit requirements.

  • Maintain control of inspection records, test reports, certificates and quality documentation.


4. Engineering Change & Drawing Control

  • Manage, track and catalogue engineering changes for every SKU.

  • Maintain clear visibility of product engineering changes, drawing revisions and technical specification updates.

  • Ensure each SKU has proper engineering history, including what changed, why it changed, when it changed and who approved it.

  • Control technical drawing revisions and ensure the latest approved drawings are used internally and by suppliers.

  • Assess how engineering changes affect product dimensions, performance, application, certification, packaging, inspection requirements and customer approval status.

  • Define whether a change requires a new SKU, revised drawing, customer approval, supplier requalification or updated inspection plan.

  • Prevent uncontrolled changes to products, drawings or specifications.

  • Ensure Business Development, Supply Chain, QC/QA and suppliers are informed of approved engineering changes.

  • Maintain proper version control for drawings, specifications, technical documents and product records.


5. Internal Workflow & Risk Control

  • Review internal department workflows and identify loopholes, weak controls and failure points.

  • Design practical workflows to prevent errors, miscommunication and costly mistakes.

  • Work with Business Development, Supply Chain, Finance, HR and Technical teams to align responsibilities and checkpoints.

  • Define approval processes, escalation rules and documentation requirements.

  • Ensure critical technical and quality decisions are properly recorded and followed through.


6. Supplier Quality Management

  • Establish and maintain supplier QC/QA requirements.

  • Conduct supplier audits, surveillance checks and supplier qualification assessments.

  • Ensure suppliers comply with EESG’s specifications, drawings, inspection standards and quality requirements.

  • Review supplier inspection reports, test reports and quality documents.

  • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.

  • Align supplier QC/QA plans with EESG’s internal standards.


7. Supplier Control of Change

  • Put in place a supplier control-of-change process for critical materials, tooling and processes.

  • Ensure suppliers seek approval before changing coating chemicals, plating chemicals, heat treatment processes, tooling, dies, raw materials, critical dimensions, packaging specifications or other quality-sensitive items.

  • Assess the technical and quality impact of supplier changes.

  • Coordinate testing, sample approval or requalification where required.

  • Ensure approved supplier changes are reflected in the relevant SKU records, drawings, specifications and QC/QA plans.

  • Prevent unauthorised supplier changes that may lead to product failure, customer complaints or certification issues.


8. Customer Complaint Handling

  • Establish and manage a structured customer complaint handling process.

  • Ensure complaints are recorded, investigated and resolved in a timely manner.

  • Lead technical investigations and root cause analysis.

  • Coordinate with Business Development, Supply Chain, QC/QA, suppliers and customers until closure.

  • Prepare investigation findings, corrective actions and customer response reports.

  • Convert complaint lessons into engineering updates, supplier improvements or internal process changes where required.


9. Product Testing, Certification & Compliance

  • Obtain and maintain product certifications required by target markets.

  • Coordinate with testing laboratories, certification bodies and external parties.

  • ·Manage technical submissions, testing schedules and certification documents.

  • ·Ensure certificates, test reports and compliance records are properly maintained.

  • Ensure engineering changes are reviewed against certification and customer approval requirements.


Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related discipline.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering, QA/QC, supplier quality, manufacturing or technical support experience.

  • Experience leading engineers, technical staff or QC/QA personnel is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of QA/QC systems, inspection methods, supplier quality control and engineering change control.

  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, inspection reports and test reports.

  • Experience with supplier audits, root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action follow-up.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.

  • Highly organised, hands-on, proactive and able to follow through until issues are closed.


Preferred Experience

Experience in any of the following will be advantageous:

  • ·Fasteners, hardware, metal components or construction-related products

  • Engineering change control / ECN / drawing revision control

  • Coating, plating, heat treatment or manufacturing processes

  • ISO 9001 or quality management systems

  • CAPA, 8D, 5 Why or Fishbone analysis

  • Supplier control-of-change systems

  • Product certification management

  • Process mapping or workflow improvement

  • Customer complaint handling
