Accountant (Civil Construction) | $5200/ 5 Days/ East - #1164138

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant specialising in Civil Construction to join our team. This is a full-time position based in the East Region, offering a competitive salary of $5,200 per month for a 5-day work week. As an Accountant in the civil construction sector, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of construction projects, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the strategic financial decisions of the organization. This role is integral to maintaining the financial health and compliance of our construction operations.

Key responsibilities

• Handle full set of accounts and ensure timely month-end and year-end financial closing.

• Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including reconciliations and payment collections.

• Prepare bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and fixed asset registers.

• Handle GST submissions, tax schedules, and support annual audit and tax compliance.

• Monitor cash flow and assist in budgeting and financial forecasting.

• Handle intercompany transactions and account balance confirmations.

• Prepare XBRL financial statements and coordinate ACRA filings with the corporate secretary.

• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory requirements.

• Liaise with auditors, tax agents, bankers, suppliers, clients, and internal departments.

• Support construction project accounting, including project costing, job cost analysis, subcontractor claims, progress claims/billings, retention sums, and project budget monitoring.

• Monitor project costs against budgets and assist in cost control and profitability analysis for ongoing construction projects.

• Ensure timely processing and reconciliation of subcontractor and supplier payments related to project milestones.

• Assist in implementing and improving accounting processes, financial controls, and reporting procedures.

• Supervise, guide, and review the work of junior accounting staff when required.

What we're looking for

• Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. ACCA qualification or equivalent is an advantage.

• At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.

• Experience in handling full set of accounts and month-end/year-end closing.

• Good knowledge of GST, tax, and Singapore accounting standards.

• Familiar with accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting.

• Familiar with XBRL preparation and ACRA filing is preferred.

• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks.

• Detail-oriented, responsible, and a good team player.
