Duty Engineer - Hotel Facilities - #1162879

Location: Orchard

Working Hours: 5 days work week, shift work

Salary: Up to $4000 + staff meals provided

Our client is a leading global hospitality company. They are seeking a skilled and proactive Duty Engineer to join their Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and reliability of the hotel's facilities, equipment, and building systems. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and exceptional environment for both guests and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Facilities Operations

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot hotel mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance works across guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, and back-of-house facilities.

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests, equipment breakdowns, and operational issues.

• Conduct routine inspections to ensure all facilities and equipment remain in optimal condition.

• Coordinate with contractors and service providers for repairs, servicing, and maintenance projects.

Preventive Maintenance & Asset Management

• Support and execute scheduled preventive maintenance programmes.

• Monitor plant rooms, utilities, generators, air-conditioning systems, and other critical infrastructure.

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.

• Assist in energy conservation initiatives and monitor utility consumption to improve operational efficiency.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, fire safety requirements, and hotel engineering standards.

• Conduct safety checks and report any hazards or operational risks.

• Participate in emergency response procedures and support incident management when required.

• Ensure proper handling and storage of tools, materials, and engineering supplies.

Teamwork & Operational Support

• Work closely with Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, and other departments to support daily operations.

• Assist with project works, renovations, and improvement initiatives.

• Support shift handovers and ensure effective communication within the Engineering team.

• Provide guidance and technical support to junior technicians when required.

Guest Experience

• Resolve maintenance issues impacting guest comfort quickly and professionally.

• Maintain high standards of presentation and professionalism when working in guest areas.

• Support the hotel's commitment to delivering outstanding guest experiences through efficient engineering services.

Requirements

• Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, or a related engineering discipline.

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in hotel engineering, facilities management, or commercial building maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems.

• Experience with preventive maintenance programmes and building operations.

• Good troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Able to work independently and perform effectively under pressure.

• Familiarity with maintenance management systems and basic computer applications.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.

• Knowledge of fire safety systems and workplace safety practices is an advantage.
