Job Advertisement: Tool Maker (Stamping Department)

About the Role

A leading global manufacturer of electronic components located in Western Singapore is seeking an experienced Tool Maker for their high-speed stamping division. This hands-on role is focused on the setup, repair, and preventive maintenance of precision dies to ensure seamless production and top-tier product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Die Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Set up, unload, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on stamping dies. Troubleshoot and adjust tooling directly on stamping machines to minimize downtime.

• Tooling Preparation: Prepare tools for changeover and suggest practical improvements to overcome recurring tooling issues.

• Precision Machining: Operate basic tool room machinery including Surface Grinders, Drilling, and Milling machines. Maintain tooling accuracy of spare parts and handle grinding of Carbide Punches and Dies using Diamond wheels.

• Quality Assurance: Conduct 1st piece setup measurements using precision equipment (Tool Maker’s Microscope, Micrometer, Profile Projector, and Smartscope) according to drawing specifications.

• Inventory & Safety Control: Assist Process Engineers with tooling spare inventory control and requisitions. Maintain strict adherence to 5S methodologies, safe work practices, and Lean Manufacturing guidelines.

Job Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in the High-Speed Stamping industry.

• Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret complex Product and Tooling drawings. Proficient in debugging tooling issues based on die strip/tooling progression.

• Education: Min NTC 2 / NITEC / Diploma in Tool & Die Making (Candidates with extensive verified practical experience without a certificate are highly welcome to apply).

• Soft Skills: Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and communicate effectively within a team.

Work Hours & Shift Patterns

This position operates on a 5.5-day work week with alternate Saturdays off (8-hour shifts apply on working Saturdays). Candidates must be open to a 3-shift rotational schedule:

• 1st Shift: 6:50 AM – 3:30 PM

• 2nd Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:10 PM (Shift Allowance $7.50/ day)

• 3rd Shift: 10:20 PM – 7:00 AM (Shift Allowance $12.00/ day)

• **Additional S$ 3.00 per day for completing a full 12-hour combined shift block

• Allowances:

  • Perfect Attendance Bonus: S$ 30.00 per month

  • Housing Allowance: S$ 150.00 per month (For eligible successful applicants)
