Occupational Therapist (OT) collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide advanced clinical services for complex cases, support junior OTs, and lead small-scale initiatives.
Clinical Duties
On top of the OT grade I duties, staff is required to perform the following;
Guide junior OTs in assessment, intervention, and client management.
Manage complex cases
Apply clinical reasoning in specialised contexts
Conduct caregiver and staff training sessions.
Monitor therapy assistants and provide constructive feedback.
Administrative Duties
On top of OT grade I duties, staff is required to perform the following:
Lead small quality improvement or research projects.
Coordinate rehab team to enhance manpower usage and good rehab standard.
Support service audits
Involve in procurement of equipment and allocation.
Maintaining of equipment and its inventory.
Assist to organize staff and caseload coverage.
Assist to lead in staff meeting which is related to rehab service standard.
Assist in introducing measures to enhance efficiency and work safety.
Education and Training
On top of OT grade I duties, staff is required to perform the following:
Follow up individual staff training plan
Assist in organize drill and audit to ensure staff competency
Conduct departmental in-service training planning, project and individual training plan to progress the rehab development.
Enhance staff specialization and skill specialize
Provide clinical training to junior OT I/II
Supervise OT Students
Leadership
Clinical judgement and decision making
Mentoring and coaching skills
Advanced communication skills with patients and families to sustain rapport and clients retention
Business Development
Identify unmet needs
Initiate pilot programs
Support departmental proposals
Required Education and Experience
Master/Bachelor/Diploma in Occupational Therapy, recognized by the Singapore Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC).
Registered with AHPC and holding valid practicing certificate from AHPC.
BCLS and AED Certificate
Relevant Post Graduate qualification is desirable
5-7 years’ experience relevant experience in hospital or nursing home setting of OT grade I
Relevant community and aged care experience would be desirable.
Completion of specialised certifications
Strong performance evaluations
Microsoft office full suite, internet savvy
Interest in geriatric and gerontology discipline.
Other essential traits/skills:
Ability to think critically, and be innovative in creating/ modifying intervention techniques to suit the individual needs of clients.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Good leadership skills
Ability to work well under pressure.
Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
Able to work without supervision
Mentorship experience
Awareness of current professional, healthcare, and ageing issues and keep abreast with up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices and physical therapy programs.
