Senior / Medical Social Worker - #1159981

Responsibilities

• Interviews and counsels patients and their families to help them with their psycho-social problems.

• Communicates with medical staff, nurses, other health-care professionals to discuss plans for total patient management.

• Liaises with other government departments, social services organisations or private agencies to meet patients' needs.

• Maintains case records on patients.

• Participates in the orientation of new staff.

• Represents department on committees of statutory, voluntary and community organisation providing social services.

• Attends supervision session, department meetings, case conference and training workshops and seminars.

• Carries out psycho-social research and relevant special projects.

• Visits patients' homes to assess social conditions and family dynamics, counsels and gives support

Requirements

• Degree in Social Work or equivalent with preferably with Honours degree or Masters.

• Preferably as Registered Social Worker (RSW) with Social Work Accreditation Board.

• Prior experience in social work or the social agency setting is preferred.

• Good counselling and communication skills.
