The MediaTek-SUTD Joint Laboratory is a strategic research collaboration between MediaTek, a global leader in wireless communications and semiconductors, and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Established under Singapore’s Future Communications R&D Programme (FCP), the Joint Lab focuses on advancing next-generation mobile technologies, particularly 6G, while strengthening the existing 5G ecosystem. It leverages SUTD’s expertise in future communication technologies and MediaTek’s global innovation network to drive cutting-edge research, foster industry partnerships, and accelerate technology commercialization. The initiative aims to position Singapore as a hub for advanced wireless research and innovation, aligning with national goals for connectivity and digital transformation.
The Research Deputy Manager will report to the Director of the MediaTek-SUTD Joint Laboratory and will be working closely with the FCP Programme Manager on administrative matters related to the Joint Lab and FCP.
Main Responsibilities:
To be the main contact point for the Joint Lab and work closely with SUTD research and finance offices, grant agencies and other stakeholders on administrative matters.
To provide accurate tracking of the usage of the Joint Lab funds and ensure that the funds are optimised.
To ensure that the Joint Lab’s finances adhere to institution & grant finance policies/guidelines.
To provide administrative and logistical support for physical and virtual events, such as meetings, exhibitions, conferences and workshops.
To ensure accurate fund disbursements from the funding agency and ensure sufficient cash flow by working with SUTD’s Finance department to prepare and provide the required expenditure reports to the funding agency.
To assist in preparing Joint Lab progress reports to the funding agency and relevant stakeholders.
To assist with audits relating to Joint Lab KPIs and expenses.
To assist with procurement matters for Joint Lab.
To perform other duties as deemed appropriate by the Joint Lab Director to support research activities in the FCP.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of three years working experience.
Working experience in Government, Education or research institutes/industries is beneficial.
Knowledge of grant administration would be advantageous and preferred.
Good computer literacy and proficiency, especially in MS Office applications.
Enabling Competencies:
Good organizational and administrative skills.
Meticulous and responsive with good interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of staff and external stakeholders.
Able to work independently and is a responsible team player.
Ability to work under pressure, to meet expectations and deadlines.
