Job Description

Working under close supervision, a Machinist operates special-purpose equipment or machines to manufacture components and parts. To accomplish this, the Machinist will need to interpret sketches, manuals and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, and set-up requirements. Another critical aspect of the job involves detecting faults and making adjustments on machines to ensure that they operate smoothly; and being able to select, align and secure holding fixtures, accessories and materials. Being able to work effectively in a team would be beneficial for this role.

1. Using basic measurement device

2. Carrying out dimensional measurements

3. Carrying out conventional grinding machine

4. Carrying out automatic grinding machine

5. Carrying out general machining

6. Conducting maintenance of machine daily, weekly and monthly

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Carry out clean tool room practices

2. Carry out dimensional and geometric measurements

3. Carry out basic productivity practices

4. Carry out general assembly

5. Carry out Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policy

6. Define technical drawings and blueprints

7. Run programmable logic controller

8. Spot hazards and uphold risk control measures

9. Use approved methods in manufacturing

10. Use biomedical products assembly skills

11. Use precision measuring equipment to carry out basic workshop practices

12. Ad hoc duties instructed by supervisor
