Backend Developer (Node.js /IOT) - #1128316

We are seeking a skilled Backend Engineer (IoT) to support the delivery of innovative IoT solutions for government projects. In this role, you will develop and maintain backend systems, integrate sensors and edge devices, and ensure secure and scalable cloud infrastructure to support large-scale IoT deployments.
 
You will also be involved in hardware–software testing, API and system documentation, and improving system reliability through monitoring, optimisation, and cybersecurity best practices. This role plays a key part in the implementation and operation of ICT and IoT systems across the project.
 
Working hours: 8.30am-6pm (Mon-Thurs), 8.30am-5.30pm (Fri)
Working location: Central
Job Type: 1 Year Contract (Renewable)
Salary: Basic UP to $10,000 (based on experience) + AWS

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain cloud-hosted backend services and APIs using Node.js
• Set up and manage communication protocols such as MQTT, TCP etc to support stable device connectivity.
• Develop solutions compatible with AWS Greengrass, Azure IoT Hub, or similar cloud IoT frameworks.
• Design, configure, and deploy IoT devices, sensors, and gateways for both field and production environments.
• Conduct troubleshooting and performance tuning for backend system to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborate closely with frontend, cloud, and data engineering teams to ensure smooth system integration and robust data pipelines.

 
Key Requirements

• Proficient in backend development, particularly with Node.js and Python.
• At least 2 years of experience in IoT or embedded systems development.
• Strong practical experience working with sensors, microcontrollers, and various communication/network protocols.
• Good understanding of embedded programming, device-level debugging, and hardware–software integration.
