Job purpose:
The Laboratory Engineer will support the Smart Wellbeing (SWB) group by overseeing the daily operation, safety management, and technical functions of three Human-Centric Design (HCD) laboratories in our company. This role ensures well maintained research environments and provides essential support for human subject studies and sensor-based experiments.
Scopes of the work:
· Operational management of three HCD laboratories under the SWB group
· Safety, risk assessment, and compliance with company policies and corporate standards
· Technical and logistical support for research experiments
· Coordination of equipment, inventory, and procurement
· Facility upkeep, housekeeping, and access control
· Collaboration with researchers on facility improvement planning
Job duties :
· Conduct routine inspection, calibration, and maintenance of lab instruments, sensors, and experimental setups
· Maintain safety documentation including RA, SOPs, and incident records
· Oversee safe laboratory operations and ensure adherence to safety guidelines
· Provide technical support for experiments, including setup, participant handling, and on-site monitoring for human subject studies
· Manage lab inventory, consumables, and procurement processes
· Coordinate equipment upgrades and facility enhancement in line with research needs
· Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and access control procedures
· Support smooth space sharing and scheduling across all three HCD labs
Skill/Qualification :
· Diploma or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Environmental Science, or related disciplines
· Candidates with O Level qualifications and substantial relevant experience may also be considered
· Must have minimum 5 years of experience working in, OR 3 years of experience managing, a laboratory environment
· Basic understanding of mechanical, ventilation, and air conditioning (MVAC) systems
· Basic ability to read AutoCAD electrical drawings and diagrams
· Fundamental skills in data organization and analysis
· Experience or knowledge in 3D printing is an advantage
Required soft skills:
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Power BI or Excel VBA Macros is an advantage
· Proficiency in English communication, including speaking, reading, and writing skills.
· Capable of working independently while also being a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
Other:
· Singapore Citizen (SC) or Singapore Permanent Resident (SPR) only.
· Japanese language skills are not necessary.
