An HVAC engineer designs, analyzes, and maintains heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure comfortable and energy-efficient indoor environments. Key responsibilities include performing load calculations, selecting equipment, creating technical drawings and documentation, and supervising installation and maintenance. They collaborate with project teams and clients, ensure compliance with regulations, and troubleshoot system issues. 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Design and analysis: Create detailed designs for HVAC systems, including performing heating and cooling load calculations and sizing ductwork and piping.

  • Equipment selection: Choose and specify appropriate equipment and components based on project needs and performance goals.

  • Technical documentation: Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and other project documentation using software like AutoCAD.

  • Compliance and quality: Ensure designs comply with building codes, standards, and energy regulations, and develop maintenance plans to ensure longevity.

  • Project management and collaboration: Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other engineers; supervise installation and commissioning; and lead technical meetings.

  • Problem-solving: Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing systems, troubleshoot faults, and provide technical support during construction.

  • Energy efficiency: Develop and implement sustainable and energy-efficient HVAC solutions to reduce operating costs and environmental impact.


Required skills and qualifications

  • Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience in HVAC design, preferably in HVAC marine and offshore sectors.

  • Proficiency with HVAC design and analysis software (HAP) and AutoCAD software. MS office word and excel.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client and team collaboration.

  • Familiarity with construction processes and safety protocols.
