Roles & Responsibilities
Job Purpose
Technical Officer (TO) works in a team to perform preventive and corrective maintenance of railway signaling and communications systems to improve its reliability. TO assists in the preparation of maintenance activities and is technically inclined and adept in handling electronics and computer-based systems and equipment for maintenance.
TO also supervises the works of contractors and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to operating requirements, quality standards and safety standards. O can communicate effectively within the team and able to multi-task and can prioritize assigned maintenance workload in supporting maintenance activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. To perform the preventive maintenance (PM) as per maintenance schedule.
2. To timely perform corrective maintenance (CM) including troubleshooting and fault rectification.
3. To perform mainline/test track testing whenever required.
4. To normalize the system after PM and CM.
5. To perform equipment overhaul activities and to ensure that the programs adhere to the schedule.
6. To perform loco PM, CM and test track testing.
7. To complete the PM/CM checklist in the MOM according to the performed task.
8. To arrange spare for IEW repair and withdrawing from warehouse.
9. To perform tasks in compliance with relevant procedures and instructions contained in Quality Procedures,
10. Work Specifications, Work Instructions, Standing Instructions and any relevant change instructions disseminated.
11. To operate safely and efficiently all Signal Measuring, Test Equipment, Instruments and Tools.
12. To always comply with and exercise safety in accordance with all Safety Procedures.
13. To be responsible for the safety of self, peers at workplace.
14. To carry-out the role of PIC and PM duties and responsibilities.
15. To complete the necessary reports for the task at hand.
16. To ensure good housekeeping at the workplace.
Physical Requirement
1. Able to work on a Shift Roster system in accordance with the MOM guidelines and Collective Agreement.
2. Able to work in harsh environment with present of dust, oil, grease etc.
3. Able to work at height.
4. Able to climb staircase ladders, work undercarriage in limited space, squat and stand for long duration up to 4-6hours.
5. Able to lift, carry and install heavy tools/equipment up to 15kg.
Qualifications and Work Experience
1. Higher NITEC in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent
2. Preferably 2 years’ experience in a maintenance environment
