Roles & Responsibilities
To develop inspection and testing SOP and reporting templates associated with lifts and escalators.
To establish and oversee the implementation of procedures for Examination, Inspection, and Testing (EIT), as well as Examination, Inspection, Testing, and Commissioning (EITC), in support of Permit to Operate (PTO) renewal applications.
To ensure all installed and inspected lifts and escalators comply with the Code of Practice.
To perform the inspection following the BCA’s requirement and adhering to ISO17020 accreditation.
To ensure inspection and testing tools are well maintained and calibrated.
To conduct statutory examination, inspection and testing of lifts and escalators in accordance with regulations and codes of practice according to schedule and submit prescribed reports and follow up on rectifications by owners/contractors.
To conduct non-statutory lifts and escalators audits.
To conduct investigations of lifts and escalators incidents.
Advise the consultants on compliance for the code of practice for the installation works.
Requirements
The inspectors shall be competent and are a registered Lift and Escalator Inspector (LEI) with a valid practicing certificate.
The inspectors must have sufficient relevant experience in their scope of inspection, for example in lift control, safety components, type testing and maintenance outcome requirements.
A Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
