Brief Summary:
As a CNC Technician you will be responsible for the precision manufacturing of optical components, the setup and operation of CNC and measurement systems, execution of quality inspections, and maintenance of equipment to ensure all components meet strict optical and dimensional specifications.
Job Description:
Set up and operate CNC grinding and polishing machines for new production orders, including tool dressing, alignment, and parameter configuration.
Perform 2D form measurements and apply corrections to CNC programs to reduce form error and enhance surface accuracy.
Conduct surface quality inspections and ensure adherence to optical and mechanical tolerances.
Perform centering operations and execute cementing, de-cementing, lacquering, and cleaning of optical components as required.
Verify center thickness and part dimensions through in-process inspections.
Assist in engineering trials and development activities to evaluate new tooling, materials, and process parameters.
Troubleshoot CNC and process issues at an intermediate level, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
Maintain tooling, metrology systems, and CNC machinery in optimal operating condition, performing scheduled preventive maintenance.
Follow 5S practices, maintain workplace cleanliness, and uphold all safety standards.
Comply with all company procedures, documentation, and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications Required:
Certificate or diploma in engineering, manufacturing technology, or a related technical field, or at least 2 years of experience in a CNC machining environment.
Experience with optical component fabrication or precision machining preferred.
Skills & Abilities Required:
Strong knowledge of CNC setup, operation, and optimization for precision components.
Proficiency with 2D metrology equipment and interpreting form measurement data.
Basic level of machining proficiency on lathe operations.
Ability to read and apply technical drawings, GD&T, and optical specifications.
Excellent attention to detail, manual dexterity, and focus on quality and precision.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel for recording measurements and maintaining production data.
Collaborative team player with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
