Job Summary:
Morning Star Community Services (MSCS) focuses on building a strong relationship between the child and the parent. At our Family Wellness Division, we strive to serve Families with care and to protect their dignity using principals of Social Emotional Learning (SEL) via the programmes we run.
The Trainer works alongside colleagues in the Training Department in executing the organisation’s training programmes both external and internal to MSCS. He/she is responsible for the planning, development, and execution of training programmes.
S/he will also need to explore and discuss training programmes opportunities with various internal and external stakeholders and build positive working relationships in order to deliver meaningful and engaging programmes for the family.
The incumbent is expected to work 9am to 6pm, Mon to Fri, and 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. S/he is largely expected to work in an indoor environment, although S/he is required to travel to and from various locations to deliver training workshops.
Key responsibility areas
Programme Delivery
Work with School Key Personnel, e.g. teachers, Allied Educators and Parent Support Groups to engage parents on the importance of improving their parenting skills through the parenting programmes offered and higher parenting needs via Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme) or other evidence-based parenting programmes.
Deliver evidence-based parenting and/or child programmes to parents and children with higher parenting needs, which may be held on weekends.
Work with the relevant colleagues in FWD to identify areas for improvement and implement corresponding improvement measures, and for referrals to the required agencies as needed.
Assess and deliver follow-on support to parents who require additional parenting support.
Where required, participate in case conferences, where parenting has been identified as an issue and/or an area of intervention.
Conduct and facilitate other parenting trainings and workshops provided by FWD where needed.
Programme Development and Management
Work with the DD/FWD to plan and develop evidence-based training programmes that are aligned to the organisation’s mission and goals
Conduct research and scanning for suitable programmes to adopt and conduct
Track and evaluate client satisfaction and effectiveness of training workshops and talks.
Requirements
Minimally a Degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Sociology or related field preferred. Candidates without experience are welcome to apply and will be trained in-house or have completed 40 hours of co-training with an accepted FLE trainer.
For experienced applicants, we are looking for at least 3-5 years of experience in family life education.
Applicants accredited in any of the following will be an advantage:
o Triple P and/or Signposts; or
o WSQ Advance Certificate in Learning and Performance 2.0 (ACLP 2.0); or
o WSQ Diploma in Design and Development for Learning for Performance;
Be proficient in another mother tongue, either Mandarin, Malay or Tamil for communication with parents not proficient in English.
