Position Title: Manager, Legal
Role Purpose
The Legal Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Organization’s legal and contractual matters, with a primary focus on Singapore operations. This role will focus on reviewing internal corporate documents and external agreements, ensuring robust compliance with local and regional regulations, and providing strategic legal support to safeguard the Cordlife’s interests while enabling business growth.
This is a hands-on, individual contributor role, requiring the ability to independently handle the full spectrum of legal work while collaborating closely with senior stakeholders to enable effective decision-making
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution.
7 to 10 years of post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law, ideally with exposure to multinational organizations and regulated industries.
Qualified to practice law in Singapore (mandatory).
Strong background in reviewing and negotiating agreements, corporate documentation, and regulatory compliance.
Key Competencies
Excellent drafting, reviewing, and negotiation skills across diverse agreements.
Strong knowledge of Singapore corporate and commercial law, with regional awareness.
Ability to anticipate and mitigate risks while supporting business objectives.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills across multiple geographies.
High integrity, confidentiality, and ethical judgment
Key Responsibilities
1. Document & Agreement Oversight
Review, draft, and negotiate a broad range of internal corporate documents and external commercial agreements, ensuring they are legally sound and aligned with Organization’s standards.
Maintain a structured contract management framework covering drafting, negotiation, approval, execution, and lifecycle tracking.
Ensure agreements contain appropriate protections for the Organization while balancing commercial objectives.
2. Legal Advisory & Governance
Act as the primary legal advisor to senior management at the HQ.
Ensure compliance with Singapore laws and regulations, as well as legal requirements in all countries of operation.
Provide support for board matters, corporate governance, and company secretarial compliance.
3. Regulatory & Compliance Support
Monitor evolving regulatory frameworks in healthcare, data privacy, and corporate law
Collaborate with Compliance and Risk teams to strengthen internal policies, SOPs, and control mechanisms.
Provide legal guidance on new processes, services, and cross-border transactions to ensure regulatory compliance.
4. Risk Mitigation & Dispute Management
Proactively identify legal and contractual risks in operations and transactions and advise on mitigation strategies.
Manage disputes, claims, or investigations in coordination with external counsel where required.
Develop and implement preventive measures to minimize exposure to legal or contractual risks.
