Responsibilities
Lead the crewing and fleet administrative teams, overseeing end-to-end crew management operations including recruitment, selection, deployment, performance appraisal, discipline, and welfare of seafarers;
Ensure strict compliance with relevant flag state, port state, MLC 2006, STCW, ISM, and other international and local maritime codes and regulations;
Oversee the administration of Seafarer Employment Agreements (SEAs), payroll, allotments, and leave rotations to ensure timely and accurate processing;
Collaborate closely with ship masters and internal stakeholders to maintain optimal manning levels and certification compliance for safe and efficient vessel operations;
Act as the primary liaison with third-party stakeholders, including manning agents, government agencies, and authorities, managing all crewing-related matters such as certification, visa processing, travel, and insurance;
Develop and manage the crewing budget, focusing on cost optimization and effective control of crew-related expenses;
Conduct regular audits and process reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices in crew management operations;
Lead communications and branding initiatives to foster high levels of workforce engagement, motivation, and morale across the Fleet;
Partner with Fleet Managers and key stakeholders to co-create and implement programmes that promote a safe, resilient, healthy, and productive workforce culture;
Drive continuous improvement by collaborating on the development and integration of management systems, digital tools, and technology-enabled process enhancements; and
Undertake special projects and stretch assignments as required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business Management or a related field;
At least 8 years of relevant experience in crewing and ship management, with minimum 4 years in a managerial or team leadership role;
Proven leadership abilities with strong skills in stakeholder management, communication, and team motivation;
Exceptional planning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, particularly under pressure;
Demonstrated capability to lead, inspire, and rally teams and peers to achieve ambitious goals; and
Strong coaching and mentoring skills to develop talent and promote individual and team success.
