Key Responsibilities of Automation Technician (focusing on CNC Products)
Programming Automation/CNC Machines: Technician must know how to write or modify Automation/CNC programs to ensure machines function correctly and output the desired product. They use computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software to set up precise machining instructions.
Setting Up Machines: Preparing, configuring, and testing Automation/CNC machines before manufacturing processes begin is crucial. This includes installing tools and loading materials like metal or plastic for part fabrication.
Operation of Automation/CNC Equipment: Technician must be able to manage the operational aspects of CNC machinery, including starting and overseeing the machines during the production run to ensure efficient operation.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Regular maintenance checks are necessary to keep machinery operating optimally. Technician is also expected to diagnose and correct any machine malfunctions or failures during the production process.
Safety Compliance: Technician is authorized to stop work and report any unsafe acts or conditions, and ensure compliance with all applicable Health and Safety regulations and procedures
Policies: Adhere to established quality, environmental protection, health and safety policies and procedures.
Experience Required:
Automation/CNC machine operation.
Programming and CAD/CAM software or similar software.
Machine assessment, troubleshooting and maintenance.
Technical Drawing reading and interpretation.
