We are seeking a recent law school graduate who is hardworking, practical and business minded to join CWT’s legal team based in Singapore. This position offers the recent law school graduate the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on in-house legal experience in a fascinating and varied industry, working closely with and supporting the other business units in the entire CWT Group. As a Paralegal/ Legal Associate you will work on a wide range of legal related matters with all aspects and variety of business, including merger and acquisition, commodities trading and financing, engineering and technology related projects in support for the Group’s activities, primarily in Singapore, with frequent support for cross-border matters in Malaysia, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Europe and other regions.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review and proof-read a wide range of commercial contracts (such as service, warehousing, logistics, NDAs, government or technology-related contracts), to protect the Group interests.
Work closely with respective business units, specializing in legal documentation, and contributing to the Group’s legal and risk compliance.
Maintain and organise checklists and contracts management. Coordinate and track execution of documents.
Report and support the Senior Legal Counsel in managing legal risks and pre-contentious matters, including coordinating with external counsel on litigation and potential contentious matters.
Research on legal developments in Singapore and other Southeast Asian markets, providing timely updates and insights for internal stakeholders.
Contribute to the development and review of internal legal templates, policies, and procedures, ensuring best practices in documentation.
Work alongside the compliance team to ensure a cohesive approach to risk management.
Requirements:
Diploma in law or Degree in Law, or formal legal qualification and/or several months of paralegal experience.
Minimum 0-2 years of working experience in the related field.
Enjoy working as part of a team and have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Have an aptitude for analysis and problem solving.
Extremely organised – ability to prioritise and manage workload.
Strong English proficiency – both verbal and written (proficiency in other languages especially Chinese, is an advantage as the work may involve review of contracts in Chinese).
Self-starter, a team player with positive working attitude and sense of urgency.
