Position Overview
Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Senior Accountant will play a critical role in supporting the finance department by performing various accounting and financial reporting tasks. This role is essential for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the financial operations within the organization. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining and analysing financial records, preparing detailed reports, assisting in audits, and supporting budget planning and cost control initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Team Management:
Review journal entries and work of junior executives to ensure accuracy.
Train and mentor junior accounting staff.
Delegating tasks and providing guidance to team members.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyse complex financial reports, statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and summaries.
Ensuring timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Producing error-free accounting reports and presenting results to management.
General Ledger Management and Reconciliations:
Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies and non-compliance issues.
Auditing and Compliance:
Assist with internal and external financial and tax audits.
Document and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of departmental, project, and organizational budgets.
Prepare revenue projections and forecast expenditures.
Conduct variance analysis and provide recommendations for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
Financial Analysis and Strategy:
Analyse financial information to summarize financial status and identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to management for strategic decision-making.
Identify opportunities for operational and financial efficiency.
Process Improvement:
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting systems and workflow to streamline processes.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
Requirements:
A solid foundation with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA is a plus.
5+ years in the accounting fast lane, with a preference for those who've navigated the automotive sector.
A tech-savvy navigator, proficient in the latest accounting software and MS Office.
Expertise in accounting principles and regulations, with the ability to apply them at high speeds.
Strategic vision with the analytical skills to dodge financial potholes.
Leadership qualities that inspire and accelerate team performance.
Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word etc.)
Proactive, exercise flexibility, able to multi-task and work independently
Enjoy working with people and thrive in team environment in a fast paced environment
Fluent in written and spoken English
High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
