Our Client, in the Trading Industry located in the Central has opening for Financial Controller.

The Financial Controller will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with relevant regulations, and the efficient management of financial resources. The role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with extensive experience in financial management within a trading or commodities environment.

In addition, this position includes corporate secretarial functions such as but not limited to maintaining company records, managing board meetings, and ensuring compliance with local corporate governance and regulatory requirements.

The Financial Controller will play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, cash flow management, and providing strategic financial insights to the executive team. This individual will manage the accounting team and ensure that financial reporting meets both internal and external requirements while also driving continuous improvement in processes.


Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Ensure compliance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and local tax regulations.

  • Review and analyze financial results, highlighting key trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Provide regular financial reports and forecasts to senior management, enabling informed decision-making.


Cash Flow & Liquidity Management

  • Monitor cash flow on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to ensure liquidity and solvency.

  • Develop and implement cash management strategies to optimize working capital and funding.

  • Oversee treasury functions, including foreign exchange management and funding for trading activities.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads and senior management.

  • Prepare financial forecasts, including P&L projections and balance sheet estimates, to support business planning.

  • Analyze budget vs. actual performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.


Internal Controls & Risk Management

  • Design and implement robust internal controls to ensure financial integrity and mitigate risks.

  • Ensure the company adheres to compliance requirements, including tax filings, audit preparation, and financial regulations.

  • Oversee internal and external audit processes, coordinating with auditors to ensure timely completion and resolution of issues.


Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and manage the finance team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.

  • Ensure the finance team operates efficiently and collaboratively with other departments.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance function.


Commodity Trading Financial Support

  • Work closely with the trading team to understand and manage the financial implications of commodity transactions.

  • Monitor trading margins, derivatives, and hedging strategies, providing timely financial reports on these positions.

  • Advise on risk management strategies for volatile markets.


Strategic Financial Planning

  • Collaborate with the executive team to align financial strategies with overall business goals.

  • Provide strategic financial insights to support mergers, acquisitions, and other growth opportunities.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements across business operations.


Corporate Secretarial Functions

  • Maintain corporate records, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation of company formation, board meetings, and shareholder agreements.

  • Manage board meetings, including scheduling, minute-taking, and tracking action items.

  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, such as filing annual returns, maintaining proper corporate governance structures, and submitting necessary filings with the relevant authorities.

  • Liaise with external legal and compliance advisors on corporate governance matters.

  • Oversee the company’s statutory registers, ensuring all records are complete and legally compliant.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional qualifications (CPA, ACA, CMA, or equivalent) is highly preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience in financial management, with a minimum of 3 years in a financial controller or senior accounting role within a commodities trading or financial services firm.

  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis in the commodities or trading industry.

  • Advanced understanding of international financial reporting standards (IFRS), GAAP, tax regulations, and commodity trading principles.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Excel.

  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to develop and mentor staff.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

  • Experience with corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory reporting.

  • Experience with risk management, including financial hedging strategies and commodity pricing.
