Position Overview
The Assistant Retail Manager supports the Retail Manager in the day-to-day operations of the store, ensuring smooth business performance, excellent customer service, and achievement of sales targets. This role involves supervising staff, managing stock, and maintaining brand standards while fostering a positive and productive team environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Store Operations
Assist in managing daily store activities to ensure smooth operations.
Oversee store opening, closing, and cash handling procedures.
Ensure compliance with company policies, operational guidelines, and health & safety regulations.
2. Sales & Customer Service
Support the Retail Manager in achieving and exceeding sales targets.
Provide exceptional customer service, handle escalated customer queries and complaints effectively.
Train and guide staff to deliver high service standards.
3. Team Supervision & Training
Assist in scheduling, supervising, and motivating retail staff.
Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and performance feedback.
Support in recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
4. Inventory & Merchandising
Monitor stock levels, conduct regular stock counts, and liaise with the warehouse team for replenishment.
Ensure correct product display, pricing, and promotional setups in line with brand guidelines.
Minimize stock loss through proper security measures and loss prevention strategies.
5. Reporting & Administration
Assist in preparing daily/weekly/monthly sales reports.
Monitor KPIs and recommend improvements to drive store performance.
Handle store administration tasks, including staff attendance records and operational paperwork.
Requirements
Diploma/Degree in Business, Retail Management, or related field (preferred).
2–3 years of retail experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or assistant manager role.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Proven ability to drive sales and manage store operations.
Good problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
Willing to work on weekends, public holidays, and shift schedules.
