The Instrument and Control Engineer’s key responsibilities are:
To carry out Instrument and Control concept design, Feasibility study, FEED, Detailed Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Testing, Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
Develop Instrument and Control architecture and block diagrams, specifications, data sheets, Instrument Engineering Index, IO List, IO Summary, Instrument Tie in list, Electrical and Instrument interface list, cable schedule, Instrument cable routing drawings, Instrument location plans, Hook up drawings, MTO, assist in Instrument and control costing.
Selection and evaluation of Instrument and Control equipment/systems such as DCS, SIS, FGS, PLC, SCADA, TGS, MMS, FAS, PAGA, CCTV, Telecom, Cybersecurity and other sub-systems.
Selection and evaluation of Field Instruments, Control valves, shutdown valves etc.
Participate in HAZOP/ HAZID/ SIL assessment workshops and provide inputs related to Instrument and Control discipline.
Ability to review and comment Instrument design inputs such as P&ID’s, process data for Instruments, Process descriptions, plot plans, equipment data sheets etc.
Carry out site surveys for greenfield and brownfield projects and generate site survey reports, Instrument and control tie in plans and schedules.
Ability to organize and arrange meetings with the client, vendors, sub-contractors and drive the project to meet the I&C stipulated schedules.
To carry out FAT, i-FAT of control systems and Instruments at vendor workshop independently and ability to comment and witness the equipment performance requirements.
To carry out SAT, i-SAT, Loop test, interlock, function test and assist in I&C pre-commissioning and commissioning activities at site.
Interface with vendors/suppliers for budgetary quotes, vendor design deliverables including reviews and final approvals by client.
Prepare Instrument and control project closeout, develop/update lessons learned and document.
Essential Responsibilities:
The following are intended to be examples of the accountabilities for which the person in this position is responsible. Focus on Engineering quality and schedule.
Prepare (EEP) Engineering execution plan for the project. Plan and schedule Instrument and control activities to meet the overall schedule.
Interact with clients, interpret their needs and requirements, and align teams internally with the expectations.
Assist in developing fit-for-purpose design and engineering quality compliance systems (workflows) including standard templates.
Review the I&C engineering tasks and initiate necessary corrective actions under guidance from Engineering Manager.
Secondary Responsibilities:
Carry out site surveys, field studies and reviews as required in full compliance with safety protocols and guidelines
Participate in constructability reviews, assist with documentation.
Support development of Tie in schedules and shutdown plans for I&C activities.
Support development of Pre-commissioning/Commissioning plans.
Assist Construction Manager as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The person in this position currently shall not have supervisory responsibility. However, depending upon individual interests, strengths and organizational needs, supervisory role shall be offered, if desired.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/ Instrument and Control engineering is preferred.
A minimum of ten (10) years of related experience in project development and engineering, consulting, FEED/EPC preferably in Oil & Gas, Power and Energy industry.
Possesses a demonstrated proficiency in Instrument and control engineering.
Possess good knowledge and technical knowhow of DCS, SIS, FGS, PLC, SCADA systems
Conversant with relevant local and international code and standards related to Instrument and Control.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Working knowledge of SPI/ INTOOLS is preferred.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills Must also possess effective interpersonal skills.
Must consistently demonstrate strong analytical skills, be detail-oriented, highly organized and self-motivated.
Can efficiently and effectively handle multiple and shifting priorities while working on multiple proposals and projects and meeting tight deadlines.
Must have delivery focussed approach, must take ownership, and drive the activities for closure as per client expectations.
Possess good project background and technical writing ability and skills.
Proactive & resourceful and hands-on with good initiative.
Independent contributor who can work well with minimal supervision.
