Purpose of the Role
The Business Development Representative (BDR) drives client's expansion into the Asia-Pacific market by generating qualified opportunities in the banking, fintech, and regulated industries
The role focuses on top-of-funnel outreach, lead qualification, and building a good pipeline to support the enterprise sales team in closing high-value deals.
Key Responsibilities
- Prospecting & Outreach: Research and identify target accounts (banks, fintechs) using tools like Apollo and LinkedIn Sales Navigator; execute multi-channel outreach (calls, emails, LinkedIn).
- Lead Qualification: Assess prospect using BANT/MEDDIC or similar frameworks; schedule discovery meetings with enterprise sales.
- CRM & Reporting: Maintain accurate pipeline data in Pipedrive (or similar CRM), track KPIs, and ensure consistent reporting to sales leadership.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor APAC market trends, competitor activity, and customer pain points; provide feedback to marketing and product teams.
- Event Participation: Represent at fintech, cybersecurity, and industry events to build networks and identify new opportunities.
- Collaboration: Partner with enterprise sales, marketing, and product teams to align messaging, improve targeting, and refine go-to-market strategy.
Requirements
Experience & Background
- 2+ years in business development or sales (preferably B2B SaaS, fintech, cybersecurity, or enterprise tech).
- Proven experience in cold calling, outbound email, and LinkedIn outreach with senior stakeholders (CISO, CIO, CTO, Heads of Innovation).
- Prior exposure to Asia-Pacific markets; familiarity with banking/fintech regulatory nuances is a plus.
- Experience in regulated industries (banking, fintech, health tech, or insurance) preferred.
Skills & Competencies
- Good outbound prospecting and lead qualification skills.
- Hands-on expertise with Pipedrive (or similar CRM), Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and email sequencing tools.
- Excellent communication and sales copywriting; able to explain technical concepts in simple, persuasive language.
- Persistence, resilience, and adaptability in a fast-changing environment.
- Analytical mindset with ability to identify patterns in buyer behavior and qualify high-value leads.
Knowledge & Education
- Understanding of cybersecurity basics (authentication, biometrics, RASP, OTP, post-quantum security) is a significant advantage.
- Awareness of compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA, local banking regulations) preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field.
Success Measures
- Consistent contribution to sales pipeline: calls/emails sent, meetings booked, qualified leads generated.
- Demonstrated knowledge of client's products, target industries, and customer pain points.
- Effective collaboration with enterprise sales and internal teams.
- Ability to quickly adapt sales messaging and tactics based on feedback and coaching.
