Position Summary
The APAC Learning & Development Manager is responsible for planning and overseeing learning and development initiatives to enhance talent development, including employee training, leadership development, and organizational growth. This role serves as the main point of contact between headquarters and the Asia region, collaborating closely with country leads, the APAC HR Director, local HR managers, and global headquarters. The manager translates Corporate learning and development directions into actionable initiatives for APAC countries, driving a learning culture and strengthening talent development and organizational growth in the region.
General Responsibilities
The APAC Learning & Development Manager, is primarily responsible for designing and executing comprehensive learning initiatives to enhance talent development and organizational growth across the region. Key responsibilities include:
Learning and Development (L&D)
Collaborate with country HR leads to identify and prioritize development needs through the performance management process, working with key stakeholders to analyze individual requirements.
Develop L&D strategies and employee development policies, providing regular updates to APAC country leads and global HQ.
Partner with HR stakeholders and country leads to create employee development plans (both corporate and retail) that accelerate personal effectiveness and align with talent management strategies.
Establish annual training plans and schedule the learning and development calendar to ensure timely delivery of training programs throughout the year.
Communicate training programs effectively to maximize participant engagement and program outcomes.
Advise and influence country HR leads to ensure adherence to global learning objectives and standards.
Identify and develop internal and external facilitators through Train-the-Trainer programs, building a pool of qualified trainers.
Manage training program budgets, records, and evaluations, providing analysis and reporting on expenses and program effectiveness to global HQ.
Source and coordinate external training courses, support delivery, and manage vendor relationships to ensure high-impact training solutions.
Talent Development
Develop and implement action plans to address talent development and capability needs aligned with the strategic workforce plan.
Support APAC countries in succession planning activities by defining talent profiles, creating development plans, and executing these initiatives to meet business objectives.
Facilitate talent review sessions to identify high-potential employees for critical roles.
Assist in building the capabilities of potential successors and high-potential talent by providing managers with tools and guidelines for talent identification and development.
Drive regional headquarters’ talent initiatives such as local scholarship programs, management of scholars to build a sustainable pipeline of talent.
Organization Development
Lead cross-country organizational development initiatives within APAC, including change management and culture transformation projects.
Support the internalization of Samsonite’s culture and core values by designing and deploying appropriate organizational development strategies and tools.
Support global HQ in implementing and communicating Employee Experience initiatives within the APAC region.
Act as the liaison between SBPL (Samsonite Brands Pty Ltd) and the Singapore government regarding initiatives centered on good corporate citizenry. This includes but is not limited to Scholarship initiatives and Government – Company learning programs.
This role emphasizes corporate and retail training, talent growth, and organizational development to ensure a high-performing, engaged, and aligned workforce across the APAC region
Job Requirements
Education
University graduate or above
Experience Requirements
Must have at 7+ years relevant and hand-on work experience in Learning and Development and Talent Management
Experience in Multinational company
Strong relating skills for building trustful partnership with internal and external business partners
Has deep insight in HRD
Cross-cultural awareness within APAC region
Qualified Trainer or capacity to become
Mobility/Travel
Occasional travel required within HK and Asia
Computer Skills
Proficient in productivity and collaboration tools including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint
Comfortable with third-party tools for virtual training, survey/learning platforms, to support communication and project management
Language
Excellent verbal, listening and written communications skills in English (ability to prepare clear reports, proposals and policies)
