OVERVIEW
CNBC is seeking a dynamic and experienced business news reporter based in Singapore to generate original enterprise business stories and deliver them across TV, digital, and social platforms. In this role, you will lead newsgathering efforts, building and maintaining strong relationships both internally and externally to uncover exclusive, high-impact stories. With a focus on business news, you will be responsible for writing, producing, and fronting key business stories that cover a wide range of topics including the economy, financial markets, and the evolving business landscape in the region. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in business and financial news reporting, with a deep understanding of Asia, and the ability to develop and sustain a robust network of sources to generate proprietary content unique to CNBC. You will contribute to show planning and production by collaborating closely with editorial, production, and digital teams to drive the daily news agenda, while presenting live reports and conducting interviews with newsmakers and industry leaders on-air and online.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Produce and report stories from the field
Write and contribute digital articles for publication on CNBC.com
Write clean, clear and accurate news copy
Develop financial and business news knowledge
Contribute and develop story ideas and develop and invite guests to CNBC shows
Conduct live hits and conversations on CNBC shows
Develop sources and generate independent reporting
Work closely with each member of production team (TV, Digital and Social), news editors, other anchors, reporters and correspondents, and operations staff
Contribute to show planning, production, and execution, stepping in as needed
Work with newsroom management team to drive daily editorial agenda for CNBC shows
Work with the company’s marketing department as requested to promote CNBC
Flexibility to work different shifts and over some weekends to cover breaking news, events, and other business needs
Willingness to travel overseas for reporting, often on short notice
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience in business and/or financial news writing and reporting live, breaking news
Experience in presenting and adapting stories across multiple platforms
In-depth knowledge of business news, financial markets and global current affairs
Ability to handle deadline pressure and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Proficient in written and spoken English language
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
While not essential for this role, candidates with experience or proficiency in the following attributes tend to excel in this position.
Minimum 5 years of experience working in a similar role
Familiarity with using key newsroom systems and applications
Background in working for a leading business news organization
