Roles and Responsibilities of a Purchaser
Purchasing officers’ source and buy materials, goods, and services on behalf of the employer to be resold or used in daily operations. Purchasing officers maintain stock levels, and may also conduct research, negotiate with vendors, and interview prospective suppliers. The responsibilities include but not limited the below: -
Sourcing materials, goods, products, and services and negotiating the best or most cost-effective contracts and deals for maximum ROI
Tracking orders and ensure smooth delivery.
Assessing and monitoring the quality of products.
Manage and evaluate supplier performance.
Updating and maintaining records of all orders, payments, and received stock.
Analyse potential vendors and suppliers for future project needs
Monitoring stock levels and manage overall inventory.
Perform inventory inspections and reordering supplies and stock as necessary.
Follow up on delays or orders that have been rescheduled.
Inspect stock and report any faulty items or inconsistencies immediately.
Placing orders as needed.
Working within set budgets.
Coordinate with logistics for shipment/delivery of materials/supplies
Work closely with engineers or related members to understand their needs or requirements in the projects. In order to develop purchasing plans and source for potential vendor/supplier.
Research and evaluate potential vendors and suppliers
Negotiate appropriate contracts for pricing and supply
Working days: Monday to Friday (9 am to 5.30 pm)
