The Director of Quality is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and executing the quality and reliability strategy for semiconductor manufacturing.
This role ensures that all products, materials, and processes meet stringent internal specifications, customer expectations, and industry regulatory standards.
Acting as both the Voice of the Plant and the Voice of the Customer, the Director leads cross-functional initiatives to drive excursion-free operations, new product ramp, and continuous improvement in a high-precision, high-volume environment.
Job:
Quality Strategy & Systems Leadership
Develop and lead the implementation of the company’s Quality and Reliability Management System in alignment with semiconductor industry best practices.
Define quality control policies for in-process, finished goods, and rework loops
Drive quality strategies that support excursion-free ramp of new products and process nodes
Product & Process Quality Oversight
Establish in-line and end-of-line process control methodologies, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) to prevent excursions and yield losses.
Ensure effective Material Review Board (MRB) procedures, disposition standards, and root cause containment protocols are in place and continuously improved.
Collaborate closely with Engineering, R&D, and Manufacturing to integrate quality requirements at the design, process development, and mass production stages.
Lead cross-functional teams to investigate quality excursions, execute containment, and implement robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Leverage data analytics and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to detect early signals and drive proactive quality interventions.
Champion Continuous Improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen) across the quality function and production lines
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performance Quality organization, including QA, QC, Reliability Engineering, and Quality Systems teams.
Establish clear performance expectations aligned with business objectives; assess and develop staff through coaching, training, and succession planning.
Promote a quality-first culture across all levels of the organization.
Define and manage the annual Quality budget; monitor variances and lead cost-of-quality reduction initiatives.
Ensure efficient allocation of metrology resources, inspection capacity, and personnel across wafer fab and backend processes.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
Minimum of 13+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing quality, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
Deep understanding of semiconductor process flow (Front-End and/or Back-End of Line), process integration, and device reliability.
Strong expertise in semiconductor quality tools and methodologies (SPC, FMEA, AEC-Q100, 8D, ISO 26262, etc.).
Experience managing customer audits and certifications
Proven track record of reducing quality excursions, improving yield, and achieving industry-leading customer satisfaction metrics.
Professional certifications (e.g., ASQ CQE, Six Sigma Black Belt) a plus
